An accident happened Saturday night at 10:30 in Reynolds County on Highway 21 about four miles north of Centerville. According to the highway patrol report, 29-year old Lindsey Williams of Black was driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 southbound when she lost control while passing another vehicle, went off the left side of the roadway and overturned. Williams suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Iron County Hospital by the Reynolds County ambulance. She was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The vehicle was totaled and removed from the scene by Swyers Towing.

The Salem Police Department released their reports. On Thursday, May 1st at 12:05 in the early morning, an officer transported a 22-year old Salem male to the SSM Behavioral Health Center in St. Mary's in lieu of a mental commitment order. On Saturday, May 3rd at 2:03 in the afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to identity theft. The investigation revealed that someone used the identity of another to file a tax return. At 7:45 that evening, an officer observed a 28-year old Salem male who had an open beer container inside the city park. He was placed under arrest for open container, issued a summons to appear in court, and released. On Sunday, May 4th at 1:08 in the early morning, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. That investigation led to the arrest of a 26-year old Salem male for possession of marijuana. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. Later that morning at 7:14, an officer was detailed to the Ranch Motel in reference to a theft. The investigation revealed that items valued at $1,090 had been stolen from a vehicle. The items were found a short distance from where they had been taken and will be returned to the owner: a 32-year old male of Salem, Illinois. That afternoon at 2:19, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of South Henderson in reference to a burglary. The investigation revealed that someone forcibly entered a residence by breaking in through the back door. Nothing appeared to be missing and the value of the damage to the door was approximately $50. That same afternoon at 4:37, an officer was contacted in reference to a stolen bicycle. That investigation revealed someone unknown took a blue and green bicycle, valued at $150, from the porch of a residence in the 300 block of West Dent. Anyone with any information regarding the identity theft, burglary, or stolen bicycle reports is asked to contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

Route KK in Iron County will be reduced to one lane as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder repairs. This section of roadway is located from Route TT to Buick Mines. Weather permitting work will take place today through Thursday, May 15th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Also, Highway 49 in Iron and Reynolds Count will be reduced to one lane as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs. This section of roadway is located between Highway 21 and Highway 32. Weather permitting work will take place today through Thursday, May 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. The work zone will be marked with signs. The Dent County Fire Protection District released their reports. On Saturday, May 3rd at 6:20 in the morning, five firefighters responded to a building fire on Highway DD. The fire was extinguished with the Lenox Rural Fire Department responding with mutual aid. All units were back in service at 7:36 that morning. At 4:00 in the afternoon that same day, nine firefighters responded to Highway 19 south of the county line to contain a wildland fire. The Jadwin Volunteer Fire Department provided mutual aid and all units were back in service at 5:48. At 4:04 that same afternoon, nine firefighters responded to county road 3160 for a natural vegetation fire. The Lenox Rural Fire Department provided mutual aid and all units were back in service at 5:08. On Sunday, May 4th at 12:32 in the afternoon, six firefighters responded to Highway 32 for a natural vegetation fire. All units were back in service at 1:10 that afternoon. That same afternoon at 2:02, eight firefighters responded to county road 3260 for a forest woods or wild land fire. The Department of Conservation provided mutual aid and all units were back in service at 6:25 that evening.

The Salem Baseball Tigers are seeded 3rd in the Class 4, District 9 Tournament that will begin on Saturday, May 17th at the Salem High School Baseball Field Complex. The first game will be at 1:00 between St. James and Osage, while the second game will be at 3:30 and pit Salem vs Owensville. Then on Monday, the winner of the St. James -Osage game will play Sullivan at 4:00 Monday, May 19th; and the winner of the Salem-Owensville game will play Eldon at 6:30 Monday, the 19th. The championship game will be held on Wednesday, May 21st at 4:30. The admission price to reach game is $4.00 per person who is six years old and above.

Allen Craig and Yadier Molina posted a pair of hits to go with an RBI and run scored and the St. Louis Cardinals hung on to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-5, in the finale of a three-game set. Shelby Miller (5-2) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks over 5 1/3 innings for the Cardinals, who avoided being swept. The Cardinals will host the Chicago Cubs tonight at Busch Stadium in the first of a four-game series. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio at 6:35.

Alcides Escobar hit a grand slam and Johnny Giavotella had a three-run shot to help guide the Kansas City Royals to a 9-7 win over the Seattle Mariners in the finale of a four-game set from Safeco Field. Danny Valencia had two hits with two runs scored and Alex Gordon recorded three hits and two runs for the Royals, who salvaged a series split with Sunday's victory. The Royals have the day off today.

The St. Louis Blues have extended the contract of head coach Ken Hitchcock for the 2014-15 season. The club also announced that associate coach Brad Shaw and assistant coach Ray Bennett will return next season while assistant coach Gary Agnew and goaltending coach Corey Hirsch will not be back with the Blues.

Funeral services for Everett Royal Taylor of Salem, age 82, will be held today at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem with full military honors.

Funeral services for Martha L. Paulsen of Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Salem, age 68, will be held Wednesday at 3:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.
