The Dent County Emergency Management Agency is reminding everyone that bottled water is available at the Bunker Fire Department, Lenox Fire Department, Jadwin Fire Department Montauk Fire Department and the Dent County Fire Department for those without water. There is no charge for the water. If you live in the areas still without power and need bottled water for drinking, please go to the Bunker, Lenox, Jadwin, Montauk or Dent County Fire Departments. Emergency Management Director Brad Nash said that a case of water will be given per day to those who have a family of 1-4 people, and two cases of water will be given to those families with 5 or more. The water will be handed out on a daily basis. The Bunker Fire Department and Dent County Fire Departments are distributing boxed meals. Whispering Pines Camp Grounds and the Salem Freedom Activity Center (the old Armory) are offering “Free Showers” for those without electric and water. The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting Monday morning. In the road report, Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that work crews on Friday after the storm assessed the damages and organized a work plan to get the roads open. He said that workers on Saturday were in Montauk, Jadwin, and worked on Custer Road. On Sunday, five dozers and chain saw crews from the Department of Conservation and the US Forest Service worked in the Bunker area. Purcell said that in clearing Dent County Road 5600, they had to remove 64 trees in the first mile. Work clearing roads will continue with the Missouri Department of Conservation in the Montauk and Jadwin areas. In District 2, Commissioner Gary Larson reported that Dent County Road 2240 was cleared and that there are still problems with Dent County Roads 2630, 2640 and 2025. He said that Dent County Road 3250 is still closed due to a hole in the road. Both commissioners wanted to thank Mike Fiaoni from the Conservation Department and Tom Haines with the US Forest Service for their help in getting bulldozers for road clearing in the southeast section of the county. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that there was damage to the roof of the Dent County Judicial Building where the roof peeled back and water did get in the building, but the damage was minor. He also reported that the Sheriff Department’s Communication Tower that was on the Dent County Courthouse tore about a two to three foot hole in the roof, and then broke a window on the first and second floor when it collapsed on the south side of the building. He said that Ferranto’s Roofing provided temporary repairs until the damage could be properly assessed. The commissioners approved hiring Kristy Chamberlain part-time during the clean up to answer the phone at the road and bridge department. Skiles wanted to thank Dent County Emergency Management Director Brad Nash and the City of Salem Emergency Management Director Alan Kimrey on the fine job in coordinating repair efforts. He also wanted to thank Deanna Nash for her work in answering phones and handling the volunteers who arrived, and wanted to thank the Dent County Salvation Army Service Unit for providing hot meals as well as water and soda on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening for between 200 and 250 volunteers. Nash said that SEMA will be in town Thursday morning to assess the damage from the storm and he is asking that any business, homeowner or renter in Dent County that suffered any storm related damage to come by the Dent County Fire House at #2 South main and fill out the damage assessment forms. Those affected can come by today and tomorrow from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Information from these assessment forms will be used to determine possible state and federal disaster assistance.  If you have any questions, call Nash at 729-3250. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be held Thursday morning at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a domestic dispute and a stolen gun. On Thursday, May 7^th at 10:20 in the evening, an officer was detailed to the 800 block of East Center Street in reference to a domestic dispute. The report led to the arrest of a 31-year old Salem man for disorderly conduct. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Sunday, May 10^th at 9:00 in the morning, an officer was dispatched to the area of 300 South Carty in reference to a stolen gun. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown removed a 22-magnum Ruger rifle with a 5-shot clip from an unsecured vehicle. Anyone with information on the theft, which is still under investigation, is ask to contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

Grant Gordon went 4-4 and drove in two runs in a six-run 7^th inning with a double as the Salem Tigers beat Rolla, 7-1. Gordon got the complete game win with a two-hitter striking out nine and walking two. He is now 8-0 with two saves for the regular season. Salem is scheduled to host Iberia Thursday afternoon.

The St. Louis Cardinals will be in Pittsburgh tonight to face the Pirates starting at 5:45 on KSMO radio. The Cards have lost five of their last eight games.

The Kansas City Royals will be at Oakland tonight to face the Athletics. The Royals are still in first place in the American League Central Division. Both the Cards and Royals had Monday off.

Graveside services for Bessie Stienbarger of Rolla, age 98, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 Licking Cemetery with Rev. Perry Lewis and Rev. Chris Gary officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time at the Fox Funeral Home in Licking.

Funeral services for Clyde Moser Dent of Salem, age 88, will be held Wednesday at 3:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until service time. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorials may be made to the Ministry Southwest Special Care Homes.

Funeral services for Pauline Nickles of Belleville, Illinois, age 91, will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Mount Hermon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dent County Animal Shelter.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pat Edwards of Licking, age 77, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Kettner officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Salem Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Boone Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Lutheran Missions. All the arrangements are under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home in Licking.

Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Perkins of Steelville, age 61, will be held Saturday at 11:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Pleasant Point Cemetery in Steelville. Memorials may be given to the Steelville City Park or the Jim Perkins Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Memorial services for William A. Andrews of Rolla, age 86, will be held Saturday, May 16th at 2:00 at the First Presbyterian Church in Rolla. Memorials are suggested to the William Andrews Civil Engineering Scholarship at MST, First Presbyterian Church of Rolla, Rolla Kiwanis club or charity of you choice. All the arrangements are under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla.
