The Salem Police Department released their reports involving assault, fraud and active warrants. On April 8
th at 8:19 in the morning, an officer was sent to Casey’s General Store on Macarthur in reference to a fight in progress. The report led to the arrests of a 40-year old Salem male and a 24-year old Salem for assault. Both were issued a summons to appear in court and released. On April 9
th at 12:46 in the afternoon, an officer located a 23-year old Salem male in the 700 block of East Center who had an active warrant from the City of Salem. He was taken into custody and incarcerated. At 4:30 the same afternoon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to the fraudulent use of a credit card device. The report revealed that person(s) unknown used a debit card of another to obtain $283.72. On April 14
th at 6:28 in the evening, an officer was detailed to the 700 block of South Jackson in reference to an assault. The report revealed a 30-year old Salem female had assaulted a 16-year old Salem female. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On April 17
th at 10:21 in the morning, an officer made contact with a 47-year old Salem male who had an active warrant from Maries County. He was arrested on the warrant and incarcerated pending extradition. Flood damage to campsites and structures along the Ozark National Scenic Riverways will cost nearly $1 million to repair. The national park area in southern Missouri, which protects a wild river system of the Current and Jacks Fork rivers, has applied for $944,000 in federal aid for needed repairs. In a single March day, 11 inches of rain fell over the four counties that encompass the park, according to park personnel, adding to already full waterways. Severe flooding damaged and destroyed campsites, boat ramps and 12 to 15 park buildings. The Jacks Fork and the upper Current Rivers crested at 16.5 feet March 19th. The lower Current River crested at 25.7 just after midnight March 20th. Recreation areas like Hickory Landing west of Grandin on the Current River were temporarily closed. Flooding of Cave Spring kept crews from reaching the primitive campground with heavy equipment, and created sand and gravel dunes and debris piles up to 8-feet deep. Park maintenance chief Roger Dillard said Keatons Campsite, on the Jacks Fork between Alley Spring and Eminence is closed, and may have to be relocated. The primitive campsite had been open to visitors for more than 37 years. The river took the bank. Four of five buildings at Big Spring Depression Farm, where the park's annual Heritage Days festival is held, were destroyed by floodwaters 6-feet deep. The remaining building sustained significant structural damage and is closed. Campgrounds at Alley Spring were covered by floodwaters, which flowed over the spillway at Alley Mill and damaged roads. Three campsites were lost when floodwater washed away a portion of the bank. A 200-foot stretch of road was washed away at Alley, and a temporary bypass is now running through an area where two other campsites were until the loop can be restored. All nine loops are at least partially open. Flooding damaged a portion of Highway 106 near Alley Mill and the Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with a private company to have repairs completed there by May 16th. At the junction of the Jacks Fork and Current Rivers, floodwaters were deep enough to sweep the roof of a restroom at Two Rivers Landing. Water reached 6 inches deep in the concessionaire and log store that normally sits more than 20 feet above river level.

The Salem Tiger Baseball District game scheduled for Saturday was postponed and rescheduled for 2:00 this afternoon at Sullivan. Salem will face Union in the first round with the winner facing the winner of the Sullivan and St. James game in the district semi-final. The Salem High School Volleyball Camp scheduled for grades 2nd through 8th will not be held due to the extending of the school year because of snow days and summer school enrollment. If parents have questions, they should contact Coach Bermudez.
Ryan Braun's fourth career multi-homer game helped the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the third of a four-game set at Miller Park. Jeff Suppan (2-2) gave up one run on six hits with four strikeouts and a season-high five walks in seven innings to record the win. Braden Looper (5-2) gave up four runs on seven hits over six innings to absorb the loss. Ryan Ludwick clubbed his eighth home run of the season for the Cardinals, who have dropped four of their last five games. Chris Duncan and Troy Glaus both went 2-for-3 at the plate. The Cards and Brewers play tonight at 6:45 on KSMO.
The St. Louis Cardinals officially removed Jason Isringhausen from the closer's role on Saturday, one day after he blew his fifth save of the season, second straight and fourth in his last seven opportunities. Isringhausen allowed four straight batters to reach base including the game-winning single by Rickie Weeks, after getting the first two outs in a 4-3 loss to the Brewers Friday night. Isringhausen is still leading the National League with 11 saves but his earned run average climbed to 7.47 with one win and four losses in 18 appearances following Friday's game.
Brian Bannister was virtually untouchable through eight innings as the Kansas City Royals avoided a four- game sweep with a 4-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Bannister (4-4) took the win after allowing just two hits, two walks and striking out five batters in his time on the hill. Jose Guillen and Billy Butler each collected a pair of hits and a run batted in for the Royals, who have posted wins in just two of their last seven contests. Alex Gordon and Mark Teahen accounted for the other Kansas City RBI. The Royals have the day off today.
