The Salem Tigers Baseball game with Iberia on Thursday was rained out and will not be made up. District play for the Salem Tigers begins tomorrow at Sullivan as they will play Union at approximately 4:30. Salem is seeded third and Union is seeded sixth. The cost of admission will be $3.00. The Salem Track Tigers Boys and Girls Teams will be in the Class 3 district meet tomorrow in Marshfield. The top four individuals in each event will advance to the sectionals to be held on Saturday, May 19th at Ozark.
At the Spring Sports Banquet held on Wednesday night, Matt Whitaker and Natalie Howard were presented the Tiger Awards for being the top male and female athletes at the Salem High School for the 2006-2007 school year. Congratulations!!!
The St. Louis Cardinals will be on the west coast tonight as they will face the San Diego Padres starting at 9:00 on KSMO Radio. Saturday night’s game will also be at 9:00 while Sunday’s game will be at 3:00. All games can be heard on KSMO Radio.
Dan Johnson and Jack Cust each hit two home runs, as the Oakland Athletics pounded the Kansas City Royals, 17-3, in the finale of a three-game series at Kauffman Stadium. Johnson finished 4-for-4 with four runs scored and four RBI for the Athletics, who hit a season-best six home runs in the contest and have won three of their last four games. Right-hander Luke Hudson made his first appearance of the season for Kansas City after being activated from the 15-day disabled list, and he struggled lasting just two-plus innings. Hudson (0-1) gave up five runs -- four earned -- on two hits while walking four. Emil Brown knocked in two runs for the Royals, who have five losses in their last six games. The Royals bullpen combined to allow 12 runs on 16 hits. Kansas City will visit the Windy City to face the White Sox tonight.
Scott Elarton of the Kansas City Royals will be coming off the disabled list on Saturday. Elarton had shoulder surgery last August and in five rehab starts he went 2-3 with a 4.78 ERA. He is coming back ahead of schedule and is expected to start Saturday in Chicago. The Royals will make another roster move on Saturday to make room for Elarton.

Funeral services for Lindsay Ernest Faulkner of Bixby, age 83, will be held Monday at 2:00 at the Boss Assembly Of God Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in the Boss Cemetery with full military honors.
