On Thursday, May 10th at 11:37 in the morning, K-9 Officer Joe Chase was detailed to the Salem Street Department to speak with a city employee in reference to suspicious property. Upon arrival, Officer Chase made contact with the city employee and apparently, while doing some brush hogging in the area owned by the city next to the Upper Elementary School, he observed what appeared to be a propane cylinder standing in the woods one hundred yards from the Upper Elementary School. The city employee was suspicious about the situation and wanted the police to investigate what he saw. As Officer Chase was walking into the woods, he observed an older, well-worn trail leading to the cylinder. The cylinder was a silver, one hundred pound propane cylinder. Inspection of the area around the cylinder revealed the presence of a ring of rocks arranged in a fire ring type manner. There was also a hand dug square pit that had been camouflaged with boards. The area appeared to be the remnants of a clandestine meth laboratory. The case is under further investigation. Anyone with any information regarding this case is asked to contact K-9 Officer Joe Chase at the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

Tune reported that grading would be done on various roads in the Stone Hill area, brush would be cut on Dent County Road 438 and work continues on the Golf Course Road to prepare it for chip and seal.
