The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a disturbance, property damage, theft, and stealing fuel. On Saturday, April 23rd 1:59 in the early morning, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 300 block of East Hunt in reference to a disturbance. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 28-year old Sedalia male for disorderly conduct.  He was incarcerated and issued a summons to appear in court. On Sunday April 24th at 3:10 in the early morning, an officer was sent to a residence in the 700 block of West Butler in reference to property damage. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown cut two tires valued at $100 on a blue 1990 Oldsmobile. Then at 9:09 that night, an officer was dispatched to the 600 block of West Roosevelt in reference to a theft. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a Mongoose bicycle valued at $133 from the yard of a residence. The bicycle was later recovered. On Monday, April 25th at 6:46 in the morning, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to stealing fuel. The investigation of the report revealed that the driver of a white Chevrolet extended cab truck pumped $130 in diesel fuel and left without paying. On Wednesday, April 27th at 11:33 in the morning, an officer was detailed to the 700 block of McGrath Lane in reference to a theft. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown entered a residence and took a wallet and contents valued at $50. Anyone with any information regarding the property damage, thefts or stealing fuel reports, which are still under investigation, is asked to please call the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.

Mark Twain National Forest visitors need to be extra careful driving forest roads. Due to spring 2011 rains, some roads within Mark Twain National Forest have been washed out, damaged, or left covered with debris from area flooding. Low-water crossings may still be carrying higher than normal water levels, making them dangerous to drive across. Once the rain stops, it may take a few days for the water level to return to normal. In some areas, you can’t even see if the low water bridge is still fully in place and hidden debris may also be under the water crossing low water bridges and washed out roads. Many Mark Twain National Forest roads are aggregate or gravel surfaced. With heavy rains and flooding, the gravel has been washed away from the road’s driving surface. Even after the rain stops, it will be several days before the roads will be dry enough to travel on without causing ruts and possibly further damage. Maps showing roads within the national forest are available at district offices for $9; a free motor vehicle use map is also available online and in print at all Mark Twain National Forest offices. All 34 animals intended as the nucleus of an elk herd in Missouri have passed the final round of health testing and are ready to board a trailer for the trip to Peck Ranch Conservation Area. Missouri’s elk originally were scheduled to arrive April 30^th. The Missouri Department of Conservation delayed the event to permit completion of veterinary-health testing. Dr. Aaron Hecht, a veterinarian with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, conducted health testing on Missouri’s elk with a veterinarian from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Hecht said the elk have fulfilled requirements under the health protocols developed by MDC in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Agriculture.

The Salem Baseball Tigers will host Mountain Grove today at 4:30 in their attempt to win the SCA Conference crown outright. Salem is 10-5 on the year and 6-0 in the SCA. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com.

The Salem Baseball game with Steelville that was cancelled Monday due to the weather has been rescheduled for Friday in Steelville at 4:30.

Daniel Descalso hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning, lifting the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-5 victory over the Florida Marlins. Fernando Salas (1-0) earned the win in two innings of relief work for St. Louis' fifth victory in seven games. Matt Holliday had a two-run home run for the Cards. Kyle McClellan went just five innings for St. Louis allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while fanning two. Eduardo Sanchez picked up his second save of the year pitching the 9th inning. The Cards and Marlins play again tonight at 6:40 on KSMO Radio.

Jeff Francoeur's sacrifice fly drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Kansas City Royals topped the Baltimore Orioles, 6-5, to open a three-game set. Francoeur also had a solo home run while Wilson Betemit and Melky Cabrera each had a pair of hits for the Royals, who have won four straight. Tim Collins (2-1) got the win throwing the last out in the top of the 10th. Kansas City starting pitcher Jeff Francis lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits. The Royals and Baltimore play again tonight.

The St. Louis Blues signed president of hockey operations John Davidson to a multi-year contract extension on Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Davidson came to the Blues in 2006, after the club finished with the worst record in the NHL the previous season. It broke a string of 25 consecutive playoff appearances for the franchise (1980-2004), which entered the league in 1967.

Salem Tigers Boys Basketball Camp will run from Tuesday May 31st – Friday June 3rd.  Camp Times are 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m for boys entering 9 –12 grades and 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. for boys entering 5- 8 grades. Cost of the camp is $30.  Camp forms will be sent home with kids, but if you do not receive one, you can stop by the JH and pick one up from Coach Zenker. Camp Forms are due back Friday May 13th so that T-Shirts can be ordered.

There will be a Girls Softball Clinic for girls going into the 5th - 8th grades next school year at the City Park fields or the high school gym if it rains. The Girls Softball Clinic will be held 3 Saturdays in a row on May 14^th, May 21^st and May 28^th. The cost is $20 and the clinics will be held from 9:00 am until noon. The clinic will consist of 3 Saturdays of specialized drills and fundamental work that will increase your skill level.  At the clinic you will work on correct hitting mechanics to improve bat speed, and throwing and fielding mechanics that will help you to be a tough defender.  Game strategy and situations to help you understand how to play the game will also be covered.  Each participate will receive a t-shirt. The seventh and eighth grade Honors Choir members will join the Upper Elementary Honors Choir to sing the National Anthem on July 28^th at Busch Stadium. The band will be playing “God Bless America” prior to the choirs singing the National Anthem.
