The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Thursday morning.  At the meeting District 1 Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that conditions are too wet for grading, so District 1 crews would be hauling white rock to the Cedar Grove Road and Dent County Road 424A, which are being chip and sealed. Simpson said each road is between 60% and 70% complete.  District 2 Commissioner J.J. Tune also reported that conditions are too wet for grading, so District 2 crews are hauling white rock to the Golf Course Road and checking road signs.  Tune said that brush would be cut on Dent County Road 402 and a tree would be removed from Dent County Road 333. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that he attended the Local Emergency Operations Review Committee meeting on Tuesday. Skiles said that several revisions were made to the current Local Emergency Operation Plan, but before these changes can be put in place, Area I Coordinator Jim Pasley and Jack Emory, the Dent County Emergency Operations Director, would need to approve all revisions. Also at the meeting the Commission faxed a letter to Senator Frank Barnitz and Representative Jason Smith urging their support of House Bill 9, which would increase the states current prisoner per diem reimbursement from $20 per day to $22.50 per day. The current cost of housing a prisoner is $45 per day. The Commission also wanted to remind everyone of the Public Meeting that will be held Monday, May 14th at 7:00 pm in the City Hall Auditorium concerning Rural Addressing.  The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Monday morning at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public. 

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving thefts and a burglary. On April 26th at 12:54 in the afternoon, an officer was sent to C&E Auto Sales in reference to a theft. The report revealed person(s) unknown entered four vehicles and took items from them that include three AM/FM CD players and a custom glass gearshift knob. The items are valued at $470 and the report is under investigation. On April 28th at 6:52 in the evening, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft. The report revealed person(s) unknown took a Craftsman self-propelled lawnmower from a residence in the 200 block of North Missouri Avenue. The mower is valued at $300 and the report is under investigation. On April 29th at 9:52 in the morning, an officer was dispatched to the First Baptist Church Youth House in reference to a burglary. The report revealed that person(s) unknown forcibly entered the building and took an X-box and Playstation 2 games valued at $175. The report is under investigation. On April 30th at 6:10 in the evening, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to the theft of a bicycle. The report revealed that person(s) unknown took a white Mongoose bicycle valued at $150 from a yard at a residence in the 500 block of East Roosevelt. The report is under investigation. Anyone with any information regarding these incidents is asked to please contact the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.

The Salem Tigers Baseball game with Sullivan yesterday was rained out and no makeup date was indicated. Today, the Tigers are scheduled to face the West Plains Zizzers at 4:30 at the Salem High School Baseball Field Complex. The Salem Tiger Baseball Tournament that was scheduled for April 13th and 14th has been rescheduled for this Saturday. Licking, Iberia and St. James will participate in the tournament starting tomorrow morning at high school baseball field complex.

Tonight, the St. Louis Cardinals will host the Houston Astros starting at 7:00. The Cardinals have lost five in a row and have lost all their games since the death of Josh Hancock. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio tonight.

Ross Gload went 4-for-4 with two runs batted in and three runs scored as the Kansas City Royals closed out a four- game set with the LA Angels of Anaheim with a 5-2 win at Kauffman Stadium. Billy Butler had two hits and drove in a run and John Buck and Tony Pena each had an RBI for the Royals, who took the last two games after dropping the first two contests in the series. Gil Meche (3-1) was solid in the start as he was charged with just two runs on two hits with a walk and six strikeouts in seven innings of work. Brandon Duckworth pitched a flawless eighth inning and Joakim Soria got his fifth save pitching the ninth inning. Kansas City continues its 10-game home stand as it will host Detroit for a three-game series starting tonight.

The Kansas City Royals placed outfielder Reggie Sanders on the 15-day disabled list with a tear in his left hamstring. Sanders, who leads the Royals with a .367 batting average, suffered the injury while running the bases after hitting a double against the Angels on Wednesday. Kansas City recalled outfielder Shane Costa from Triple-A Omaha to take his spot.

Funeral services for Wayne Alan Ragan of Salem, age 44, will be held Saturday at 1:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery.

Funeral services for Rancy Prier of Licking, age 89 will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the Licking Untied Methodist Church. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Shafer Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Licking United Methodist Church. All arrangements are under the direction of the Fox Chapel in Licking.

A Memorial Service for Peggy Worlow, of Raymondville, age 46, will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 at the Fox Chapel in Licking. Visitation will be 10:00 until time of service.

Funeral services for Oscar Dean Hubbs of licking, age 74, will be held Sunday at 2:00 at the Fox Chapel in licking with Reverend Steve Floyd officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Saturday. Interment will be in the Mt. loive Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Judes Children Hospital.
