The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Thursday morning in the Dent County Courthouse. In the road report District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that materials would be added to and grading done on Dent County Roads 4210 and 5490.  District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2510, 3330, 4380, and 5260, while materials would be added to county road 2550. Larson went on to say that he had a man screening brown rock at the shed. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said that City Manager Ray Walden had arranged a meeting for Thursday afternoon at 3:00 with US Foods officials.  Skiles said that some of the goals of the meeting would be to share what the City of Salem provides, plus express the city’s and the county’s appreciation for and support of US Foods in Salem. Skiles wanted to make sure that teachers and citizens with ideas for recycling grants are aware that they should contact the MRPC at 573-265-2993 and talk to Tammy or Lucky. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley asked residents who have had address changes to notify her office, as well as the Assessor’s and Collector’s offices. This would help reduce postage costs and would improve efficiency of operation in the county offices.  Curley went on to say that she had been talking to Centurylink, Fidelity, and Dave Wells at ABS about needed expansion of Internet services at the Courthouse. Financing bids were then opened for the Road and Bridge Department tractor and brush cutter. The Commissioners voted 3 – 0 to accept the bid from Town and Country Bank to finance the $90,397.71 purchase for four years at 2.37 percent. The Commissioners voted to pay the bills. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Monday at 9:00 at the Courthouse and it is open to the public.
