The Dent County Commissioners met Monday morning in the Dent County Courthouse for their regular meeting. In the road report District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that materials would be added to and grading would be done on Dent County Roads 5620, 5680, 6633, and 6660. Purcell went on to say that he had a man going to get oil for chip and seal repair scheduled for Tuesday. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 5240, 3040 and 3030. He went on to say that materials would be added to and grading would be done on county roads 2330 and 2320. Larson added that on Tuesday his crew would be getting a load of cold mix.  Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reminded Dent County citizens served by Centurylink to confirm that their sales tax is being properly credited to the county. Skiles said the contact number is 1-866-519-7885 and that Centurylink is working on correcting the problem. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley asked that voters who have address changes PLEASE contact her office to avoid complications like those experienced during the recent election. Commissioner Purcell shared correspondence he received from the Mark Twain National Forest documenting that Dent County Roads 5615, 5550, and 5600 would be for road maintenance under the Secure Rural School authority. These roads lead to lands within Mark Twain National Forest. Once necessary documents are signed and returned $23,452 will be released to Dent County for materials to be added to these roads.  Dent County Assessor Tina Whitaker came in to discuss the Sonia Meade request that her father, George Jenkins, late penalty be waived because of an address error that resulted in him not receiving his real estate tax assessment. The Commissioners voted 3–0 not to waive the penalty based on State Statute 52.240 Subsection 3. Sheriff Rick Stallings was in for the opening of the bids on the 2004 Ford Explorer. Bids were $937.50 by Schwartz Salvage, $508.00 by Youseff Dabbagh, and $450.00 by Allison White. The Commissioners voted 3-0 to accept the Schwartz Salvage bid.  The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at the Courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their April meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00. After approval of the agenda and Board Directors Swear-in, the Board will then approve the minutes from the March 18th meeting. There will be summary of operations and statistics reports for March followed by the nursing and ancillary service reports. Administrator Dennis Pryor will then update the Board with an auxiliary report, hospital activity calendar, legislative issues and the patient satisfaction survey results for hospital inpatient and ER patient along with the rural health clinics. In old business, there will be an 2011 strategic planning goals update, the Community Health Needs Assessment update, the 2015 budget committee meeting report and the Board will address hospital policies and procedures. In new business the Board will address purchases made for the hospital. The April meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

Dent County Sheriff Rick Stallings is pleased to announce the award of additional grant funds to support the South Central Missouri Computer Crime Task Force. The Sheriff’s Department was awarded an additional $4,500 from the State Cyber Crime Grant (SCCG) program through the Missouri Department of Public Safety. This award is an addition to the $39,749.12, which was previously awarded for the 2014 grant period, June 1, 2013 and through May 31, 2014. This additional award is for the upgrade of the equipment and software used to examine cell phones. The South Central Missouri Computer Crime Task Force provides investigations, technical support, computer forensic examinations, officer training in identifying and seizing electronic evidence, and Internet Safety presentations to schools in the region. The South Central Missouri Computer Crime Task Force is comprised of investigators from various agencies and provides services to Dent, Pulaski, Phelps, Crawford, Iron, Reynolds, Shannon, Texas, and Washington Counties.

The Salem Baseball Tigers banged out 18 hits en route to a 13-3 win over the Willow Springs Bears Monday at the SHS Baseball Field Complex. Kory Ramsey went 4-5 with 2 RBI, Jon Arzt went 3-4 with 2 RBI and Adam Ziske went 3-4 with an RBI. Kyle Lea went the distance for Salem pitching out of a bases loaded, no one out situation in the first inning without giving up a run. Salem promptly put up a seven spot in the bottom of the first and were never challenged. The Tigers are now 3-9 on the year and 1-3 in the SCA. They will host Thayer Thursday at 4:30.

The Salem Tiger golf team will be at Houston this afternoon at 4:00.

Jonathan Toews scored, Corey Crawford had 34 saves and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the St. Louis Blues 2-0 Monday in Game 3 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. Ryan Miller stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced in the loss. The Blues lead the series 2-1 and game four will be held on Wednesday night at 8:30.

Jenrry Mejia fired 6 2/3 scoreless innings and the New York Mets blanked the St. Louis Cardinals, 2-0, in the opener of a four-game set. Matt Carpenter, Allen Craig and Yadier Molina each had two hits to account for St. Louis' total. Tyler Lyons, who was called up prior to the game, fanned seven but allowed two runs on six hits and four walks over six frames to notch the loss. To make room for Lyons on the roster, the Cardinals optioned pitcher Jorge Rondon to Memphis. The Cardinals have dropped four of their last six games. The Cardinals and Mets play again tonight and you can hear it on KSMO Radio starting at 5:35.

Michael Brantley and Jason Kipnis both hit two-run homers to help guide the Cleveland Indians to a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals in the opener of a four-game set from Progressive Field. Omar Infante went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for Kansas City, which saw starter Jeremy Guthrie (2-1) surrender all four runs on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings. The Royals and Indians play again tonight at 6:05.

Tulsa has named Frank Haith as its new men's basketball coach. Haith decided to leave his position at Missouri, where he guided the team to a record of 76-28 over three seasons with a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, but the Tigers missed this year's tourney.

Funeral services for Dorothy Maxine Moreland of St. James, age 83, will be held Wednesday at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Meramec Hills Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Johns Lutheran Church of St. James or the American Heart Association.

Funeral services for Dennis Lee Simpson Sr. of Cherryville, age 64, will be held Thursday at 2:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Interment will be in the Martin-Trask Cemetery in Cherryville.

Funeral services for Marie J. Yeomans of Salem, age 92, will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation. All arrangements are under the direction of the Dent County Memorial Chapel of Salem.
