The Dent County Sheriff’s Office released some reports. On April 10^th, deputy Joe Cochran and Sheriff Rick Stallings were patrolling north on Highway 19. While on patrol, a Chevrolet was observed swerving and crossing the centerline three times. The officers turned on their emergency lights and the Chevrolet pulled into a private drive. The driver was identified as Ashley Sneary and the passenger was identified as Joshua Fagan. Fagan then produced a driver’s license that was revoked. The sheriff then asked to search the vehicle and was given permission. Upon investigation, drug paraphernalia was found. Under Miranda, Fagan admitted the items were his. After the search of the vehicle was complete, the sheriff’s department released Sneary with a warning. Fagan was transported to the Dent County jail, was booked and placed in jail on a 24-hour hold pending issuance of warrants. On April 15, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison informed the Sheriff’s Department that on April 14th, they were out of town and upon their arrival home the next day, their stamp collection was gone. The collection is valued at $2000.00. Mrs. Harrison that there was no property damage and that she believed that her granddaughter, Autumn Brisbois, used her key to allow Jonathon Morgan to enter and steal the collection. Mrs. Harrison said that she had contacted Rolla Rare Coin and they said that they had the stamps. The sheriff’s department contacted the business and the Owner said that he had the stamps and that the Sheriff could come and pick them up. Once at the business pictures of the stamps were taken for evidence. The sheriff then showed the owner a picture of Morgan, and he accurately identified him. Under Miranda, Ms. Autumn Brisbois admitted that she had used her key and let Morgan went into the Harrison’s home and he stole the stamp collection. Charges were to be filed.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their monthly meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda, there will be a Board of Director swear-in followed by the approval of the minutes from the March 25th meeting. Administrator Dennis Pryor will then update the Board on the summary of operations and statistics reports for the month of March. Pryor will then update the Board on the auxiliary  report, hospital activity calendar, legislative updates, and the emergency room and inpatient satisfaction survey results. Director of Nursing Carol Lacy will then update the Board on the nursing services and ancillary service reports. In old business, there will be a strategic planning update, discussion on the hospital lagoon, review of the Finance Committee meeting, discussion on the Hospital Foundation Committee and information on the Backpack Grant. In new business, the Board will address hospital purchases. The Board may then vote to go into closed session. The monthly meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.

The celebration of the 140th Birthday of the Dent County Courthouse will be held Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 on the lawn of the Dent County Courthouse. Sponsored by the Dent County Historical Society, the current elected Dent County officials will be in introduced along with previous commissioners, judges, attorneys, current and previous state officials, and city of Salem officials and former officials. There will be special proclamations before former state representative and historian Ken Fiebelman will be speak on the history of the courthouse. There will also be music from the group New Highway and there will be a chance to take photographs. Bob Rich will have his stagecoach at the courthouse. An accident occurred at 4:45 Tuesday afternoon in Dent County at the intersection of Highway 19 and Route B. According to the highway patrol report, 18-year old Carly Carroll of Salem, driving a 2003 Dodge, was making a u-turn, failed to stop at a stop sign, and pulled into the path of a 2000 Pontiac driven by 39-year old John Wofford. Carroll and an occupant in her vehicle, 15-year old Elizabeth Benson of Salem, suffered minor injuries and were taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital. Everyone was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing.
