The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Monday morning. At the meeting District 1 Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that there was minor damage throughout the district from last weeks rain and crews would be out this week working on getting the roads back in shape. Simpson said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2410, 6090, 6100, 6370 and 6400. Grading and general patching would also be done in the Bunker area and a crew would be cleaning out culverts on Dent County Roads 4160, 4180, 5015, 5035 and 6370.  District 2 Commissioner J.J. Tune reported that grading would be done and material would be hauled to Dent County Roads 3180, 3295, 3360 and 4060. Tune also said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2025, 2070, 2080, 2110 and 3175 and in the Boss area on Dent County Roads 4405, 4430 and 5300. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that the South Central County Commissioners Association meeting that he was supposed to attend last Friday was cancelled due to flooding.  Pat Hanson came by the meeting to discuss with the Commission a treetop that had washed down Dry Fork Creek and was lodged in the bridge. Ms Hanson said she was going to contact the Corp. of Engineer to have them look at the bridge, but was wondering if the Commission could cut the tree out. Commissioner Tune said that if she wants the Corp. of Engineer to look at the bridge, then she would need to leave the treetop as is. The next meeting of the Commission will be Thursday morning at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.

The Salem Park Board will conduct a meeting at the Salem Freedom Activity Center tonight beginning at 6:30 pm. After a report from the Parks and Recreation Director Greg Nash, the Board will discuss the Al Brown fields softball leagues. There will be an update on the Amory ball fields including the batting cages, parking and covering the ditch area. The Board will also discuss the new soccer fields and the swimming pool. Plans will also be addressed for the upcoming youth baseball/softball season regarding tentative season dates and the age groups. The Board will also discuss the Cardiovascular Wellness Center and any other business that may come before the Board. The meeting of the Salem Park Board is open to the public.

An accident occurred on Friday morning, April 11^th at 9:41 on Tenth Street in Salem. According to the Salem Police report, a maroon 2001 Pontiac Montana driven by 71-year old Aline Bell of Salem was traveling west on Tenth Street. Bell veered off onto the right shoulder of the roadway and continued off the highway into a ditch and made contact with a concrete culvert. Bell suffered injuries in the accident. The Pontiac sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing of Salem.

The Salem Police Department released their report for the month of March. During the month, they wrote 17 traffic tickets, two warning tickets and one equipment repair order. They served 27 summons to appear in court and five fugitive warrants. The Salem Police Department investigated 16 accidents, five assaults, one domestic assault and five reports of driving while intoxicated. The Police Department also investigated 16 reports of stealing, five reports of property damage, one burglary, two reports of disorderly conduct, one report of harassment, one report of trespassing, one report of a lost or stolen plate, two reports of counterfeiting, one report of an ex parte violation and three reports of leaving the scene of an accident. They also investigated one report of possession of marijuana. The police received 1,579 calls for service during the month, handled 116 walk-ins to the station and redirected 64 calls to the animal control officer. They also spent eight hours in court testifying, two hours as court bailiff and spent 24 hours teaching D.A.R.E. The calls in March included 35 calls for escorts, 11 9-1-1 calls, four intoxicated driver investigation calls, one call for a suspicious person or vehicle, five calls for peace disturbances, 12 ambulance assist calls, two calls for alarms sounding, four calls for fights in progress, five domestic dispute calls, two calls for prowlers, two calls for an intoxicated pedestrian, two fire calls and two wreckers were needed. The Salem Police Department drove a total of 10,975 miles during the month of March. The Salem Police Department arrested 19 males and 10 females during the month of March.

Dustin Mills soft single to left in the bottom of the 7^th inning scored Casey White with the game-winning run as the Mountain Grove Panthers beat the Salem Tigers, 3-2. Salem tied the game in the 7^th on a double by Brandon Plank and a single by Tyler Washausen, only to have the Panthers respond with an unearned run in the bottom of the inning. Ethan Curley was the hard luck loser going the distance giving up three runs on seven hits, striking out six, walking two and hitting a batter. Washausen finished with three hits, while Lewis Carroll and Plank each had a single and a double. Salem is now 3-1 on the year and 1-1 in the SCA. Zack Greinke's complete game five-hitter highlighted Kansas City's 5-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners in the first game of a two-game set. Greinke (3-0) pitched his third superb outing of the season, giving up just one run while striking our four and walking a lone batter. He threw just 107 pitches, 74 of which went for strikes. Billy Butler and Miguel Olivo homered for Kansas City, which has won two in a row. Tony Pena Jr. snapped an 0-for-26 slump with two hits in the win. The two teams play again this afternoon.

Funeral services for Muriel Ivon Henson of Rolla, age 91, will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 tonight. Interment will be in the Roach Cemetery in Doolittle. Memorials are suggested to the Rolla Presbyterian manor.

Funeral services for Thomas J. O'Keefe of Rolla, age 72, will be held Thursday at 10:00 at the St. Patrick Church in Rolla. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 with a Prayer Service at 5:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be in the Rolla City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Patrick Church, the Metallurgy Department of Missouri S&T and the Order of the Cardinal Mercier Educational Endowment Fund of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity.

Funeral services for Elva Lucinda Wedding of Rolla, age 81, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will be in the Rolla City Cemetery.

Funeral services for Eva Jo Bradford of Rolla, age 72, will be held at a later date. All the arrangements are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla.
