The Salem Golf team finished 5th out of 8 teams Wednesday at a crisp Tiger Invitational held at the St. James Country Club. Dylan Sisco placed 5th overall and medalled with an 84. Other scores were Ben Adams 92, Alan Benowitz 103, Adam Wood 104, and C.J. Davison 109, which did not count toward the team total. Salem will be at Cabool this afternoon.

Pinch hitter Chris Heisey lined a pitch into left-center field to score the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on Wednesday, lifting the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Jon Jay hit a two-run homer for the Cardinals, who had won the first two games of the series by a combined score of 10-2. Cardinal starter Jaime Garcia gave up 11 hits and three runs in 4 2/3 innings. The Cards have the day off.
After the Royals took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 12th, the A's scored two runs in the bottom of the frame without recording a hit to take a 5-4 decision over Kansas City in the finale of a three-game series at Oakland Coliseum. Jonathan Broxton (0-1) came on for the save opportunity, and pinch-hitter Seth Smith reached on an error before the bases got loaded by back-to-back walks. Coco Crisp followed with an RBI groundout, and Broxton then hit two straight batters, giving Oakland a rare walk-off hit by pitch for the victory. Kansas City has the day off.
The second-seeded St. Louis Blues will host the San Jose Sharks tonight at 6:30 in Game 1 of the opening round of the playoffs. You’ll be able to hear the game on KSMO Radio.
