The Salem Police Department has released several reports. On Sunday, March 25^th at 7:44 in the evening, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to an assault. The investigation revealed that a 28-year old Salem male had assaulted a 29-year old Salem female. Later that night at 11:17, an officer transported an 18-year old Salem male to The Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington in lieu of a mental commitment order. On Monday, March 26^th at 12:20 in the afternoon, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of North Pershing in reference to property damage. The investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown broke a window valued at $25 out of a wood entry door. Later that day at 5:06, an officer was dispatched to the Classic Joy Ride on Craig Industrial Drive in reference to a burglary. The investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown cut the locks off of 10 storage sheds and entered into the units. Property missing and values are unknown at this time. Later that evening at 6:48, an officer made contact with a 20-year old Salem female in the 200 block of South Warfel who had an active warrant from the City of Salem. She was taken into custody on the warrant and was later released after posting bond. On Tuesday, March 27^th at 11:00 in the morning, a K-9 sweep was conducted at the Salem High School. In connection with the sweep, a 19-year old Salem male was arrested for a minor in possession of intoxicants and a 17-year old Salem female was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were issued a summons to appear in court and released. Later that afternoon at 2:19, an officer was dispatched to the parking lot at Third and Washington in reference to damage to a vehicle. The investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown damaged the back glass on a white 2001 Chevrolet Malibu. The value of the damage is $308. That night at 10:56, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of South Hickory in reference to a disturbance.  The investigation led to the arrest of a 32-year old Salem male for refusal to obey a lawful order of a police officer, resisting arrest, and assault on a law enforcement officer. He was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. An accident occurred at 4:15 Monday afternoon in Reynolds County on Main Street in Bunker. According to the highway patrol report, a 2001 Dodge Caravan driven by 15-year old Tyler J. Mowery of Bunker was traveling southbound on Main Street. Mowery failed to secure the driver side door and fell out of the vehicle as it was in motion and was subsequently run over by the Dodge Caravan. Mowery suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital. He was not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Dodge Caravan sustained no damage and was driven from the scene by the owner.

The Dent County Fire Protection District Board of Directors held their monthly meeting Tuesday evening at the fire station. After approval of the agenda, there was a review of the minutes from the previous meeting, the financial report as well as bills was approved and the file copies were signed. In the Calendar review it was noted that an Extrication Class would be held on April 14^th and all fire departments and the Hospital have been invited. The class will be paid for by a grant from the Fire Marshall’s office. A total of 31 calls were reported for the month of March. After the declaration of election results, Tom Roofe was sworn in as he ran unopposed.  Both Chief Brad Nash and the Board of Directors were commended for a job well done on the upgrade of the District. The election of officers was held with Craig Smith as Chair/President; Dave Wells as Secretary/ Treasure; Brad Nash as the Budget Officer and the Custodian of Records. The Board made a motion to allow the Dent County Cattlemen to use the parking lot for the start of the Run-Walk event on May 5^th starting at 7:30 am and ending at 12:30 pm. They then set their next meeting for May 1^st at the fire station beginning at 6:00 pm. The meeting was then adjourned.
