Alex Ovechkin scored his 50th goal of the season, leading the Washington Capitals to a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. Maxim Lapierre scored for the Blues, who have lost three games in a row as they cling to a one-point lead over Anaheim for first place in the Western Conference. The Blues will be in Minnesota on Thursday to face the Wild.
Matt Holliday smacked a go-ahead double in the sixth inning and Yadier Molina had three hits, including a solo homer to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Lance Lynn (2-0) allowed five runs on eight hits in six innings, striking out four and walking none. The Cardinals and Reds play again this afternoon and you can hear it on KSMO Radio starting with the pre-game show at 12:10.
James Loney's RBI single in the top of the ninth inning vaulted the Tampa Bay Rays past the Kansas City Royals, 1-0, in the second tilt of a three-game set. Kansas City starter Yordano Ventura allowed just two hits and struck out six without walking a batter over six scoreless innings. The Royals and Rays pay again today.
The St. Louis Rams have signed wide receiver Kenny Britt. Britt spent the first five years of his career with the Tennessee Titans. Britt has 157 career catches for 2,450 yards with 19 TDs.

Funeral services for Bonnie Mathes of Boss, age 75, will be held Thursday at 1:00 at the Locust Grove United Baptist Church in Oates.
