The Salem Tennis team will be in Rolla today at 3:00 for a match against the Bulldogs.
David Perron scored the game winner on a power play late in the third period, and St. Louis hung on late to beat Dallas, 3-2, at American Airlines Center. Alex Steen and Kris Russell also tickled the twine for the Blues (49-22-11), who halted a four-game losing skid. St. Louis finished the year with 109 points, and is the second-seed heading into the playoffs after the Vancouver Canucks captured the President's Trophy on Saturday. The Blues will face the seventh-seed San Jose Sharks on Thursday at 6:30 in the first round of the playoffs.
Carlos Beltran went 3-for-5 with a two- run home run, and the Cardinals used another offensive outburst to rout the Brewers, 9-3, on Sunday. Matt Holliday and Rafael Furcal each scored twice and knocked in a run for St. Louis. Lance Lynn (1-0) tossed 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball, striking out eight and issuing one walk with two hits. The Cardinals will start a series with the Reds tonight at 6:10 and KSMO will join that game in progress following Salem baseball.
Eric Hosmer and Billy Butler each launched two- run home runs and batted in three runs apiece to help Kansas City capture it’s opening series with a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Hosmer finished 2-for-5 with three runs scored while Butler had a 2-for-3 afternoon. Jonathan Sanchez (1-0) tossed five innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four to pick up the win. The Royals start a three-game series against Oakland tonight.
