Only 10.28% of registered voters voted in the Municipal Election Tuesday for school boards, the Dent County Fire Protection District Board members and the city of Salem mayor and aldermen. Here are the local election results from the Municipal Elections:

The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Monday morning. At the meeting, District 1 Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that grading and patching would be done on Dent County Roads 2400, 2430 and 5400. Simpson also said that crews would be patching the chip and seal on Dent County Road 4110 and cleaning out a culvert on Dent County Road 4122. District 2 Commissioner J.J. Tune reported that crews would be grading and hauling rock to Dent County Roads 2330, 2380, 4290 and 4300. Tune also said that grading would be done on Dent County Roads 3220, 3240 and 6160 and he wanted to remind everyone that a portion of Dent County Road 2300 is still closed. The Commission also stated that they have not decided which offices will be moving into the new office building located at 205 East 4th Street. The Commission agreed at the previous meeting to purchase the property for $70,000. Senator Frank Barnitz dropped by the meeting to discuss with the Commission the daily cost of housing a prisoner. The Senator said that $37.00 per day is about the average cost around the state and he is currently working on an amendment that that would raise the current prisoner per diem from $21.00 per day to $25.00 per day. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.

Troy Glaus laced a two-out, two-run double in the eighth inning to lead the St. Louis Cardinals over the Houston Astros, 5-3 at Minute Maid Park. The Cardinals only tallied six hits, but picked up their sixth win in their last seven games. Anthony Reyes (1-0) was spectacular in three innings of relief, allowing only one hit and no walks. Jason Isringhausen pitched a perfect ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season. Starter Brad Thompson pitched four innings and allowed three runs on five hits while striking out five. Adam Kennedy and Chris Duncan each notched runs batted in for St. Louis. The Cards and Astros play tonight at 7:00 on KSMO Radio.
Ross Gload went 2-for-3 with two RBI as Kansas City upended the New York Yankees, 5-2, in the opener of a three-game set at Kauffman Stadium. Mark Grudzielanek and Mark Teahen each collected two hits and drove in a run for the Royals, who were victorious in their home opener and have won two straight. Joey Gathright went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and also stole three bases, while Alex Gordon also had two hits and scored twice. KC starter Brian Bannister (2-0) allowed five hits and a pair of runs over five innings to notch the win. Joakim Soria picked up his fourth save with a scoreless ninth. The Royals and Yankees will play again tonight at Kaufmann Stadium.

Graveside services for Thomas Cochran of Spring, Texas, formerly of St. Louis, age 72, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the St. James Cemetery. All the arrangements are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James.
Funeral services for Mary Ellen Shaffer of Salem, age 86, will be held Friday at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Edgar Springs Cemetery.
Funeral services for Floyd R. Snelson of Vandalia, Ohio, formerly of Rolla, age 88, will be held Saturday at 11:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the Thomas-Fairview Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to the Phelps Regional HOSPICE.
Graveside services for Norma Jean Strong of Salem, formerly of Tampa Bay, Florida, age 47, will be at a later date at Thornfield, MO. All arrangements are under the direction of the Dent County Memorial Chapel.
Kenneth William Nance passed away April 7th at Viburnum. Mr. Nance was cremated and there will be no memorial service. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary of Viburnum.
