The Salem Police Department has released their reports. On Tuesday, March 26th at 11:33 in the morning, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a robbery. The investigation of the report revealed that a 51-year old Licking female and a 69-year old Salem female forcefully took a necklace valued at $850 from the neck of a 50-year old Salem female at the Spring Creek Café on South Macarthur. The suspects were then arrested and then released pending the application for warrants. On Saturday, March 30th at 12:20 in the early morning, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Hogan & Adams Lane in reference to a domestic assault. The investigation of the report revealed that a 30-year old Salem male had assaulted a 29-year old Salem female then fled the scene. Later that morning at 10:46, an officer was dispatched to Personal Touch Cleaners located at 2 North Iron in reference to damage to private property. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown damaged a dual pane window in the front of the building valued at $250. That evening at 6:10, an officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 35-year old Licking male for stealing merchandise valued at $194, possession of amphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of benzodiazapine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and distribution of a controlled substance. The suspect was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. A little later that evening at 8:28, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. The investigation of the stop led to the arrest of the driver, a 30-year old Birchtree female, on an active fugitive warrant from Shannon County. She was later released with a court date after posting bond. On Sunday, March 31st at 7:31 in the evening, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. That investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 20-year old Salem female on an active fugitive warrant from Phelps County. She was released with a court date after posting bond. Later that night at 10:43, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of East Roosevelt in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 26-year old Salem male for stealing a purse and contents valued at $450. He was incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. On Monday, April 1st at 7:54 in the morning, an officer was dispatched to McDonalds Restaurant in reference to a theft. The investigation of the report revealed that someone took a 12-foot trailer, valued at $2,500, which was chained up near the dumpsters. On Tuesday, April 2nd at noon, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a forgery. The investigation of the report revealed that someone used a valid checking account number of another to create forged checks and passed them at Walmart in Salem and in Houston for a total of $2,700. Later that afternoon at 3:20, an officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to trespassing. That investigation revealed that a 28-year old Salem female was on the property after having been previously issued a no trespass order. She left the scene before officer’s arrival, but further investigation led to her location and arrest. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced the roadwork that will continue in our area. In Crawford County, roadway maintenance will take place today, through Thursday, April 18th on Highway 8 between Highway 19 and Route Y. Roadway maintenance will also take place on Route F between I-44 and Highway 19 today through Thursday, April 11th. Roadside maintenance will taking place today through Thursday, April 11th on Route H between I-44 and the end of state maintenance and Route U between Route M and the end of state maintenance. In Dent County, roadway maintenance will take place on Wednesday, April 10th on Route U between Highway 68 and the end of state maintenance. Roadside maintenance will take place today through Thursday, April 18th on Highway 19 between Route B and County Road 5080. Jason Stotler, a local history buff and geocacher, will be the featured speaker at the Dent County Historical Society Speaker Series at the Bank of Salem Courtesy Room in Downtown Salem, Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m. Stotler will explain geocaching and discuss the connection between his hobby and historical sites in Dent County. The Salem Baseball Tigers will host Houston today at the SHS Baseball Complex in another key SCA contest starting at 4:30. Salem enters the game with a 3-3 record and 1-1 in the SCA. The game can be heard live on ksmoradio.com, seen live on fidelitylocal6.com and heard on a taped delayed basis on KSMO after the St. Louis Cardinal home opener.
The Salem Tiger Tennis team moved to 3-0 on the season after defeating Houston on Friday, 9-0. Salem plays at Rolla on today.
Amanda Mathes has been named Girls Basketball Coach of the Year for the Black River League. Mathes is from Bunker R-3.
Matt Carpenter led a balanced St. Louis offensive attack with three hits, three RBI and three scored runs, as the Cardinals thumped the San Francisco Giants, 14-3, on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game set. Matt Adams had three hits and two RBI, Allen Craig and Carlos Beltran each had two RBI and Jon Jay scored three times and also drove in two runs for the Cardinals, who erupted for a nine-run fourth inning before cruising to the win. Starter Adam Wainwright (1-1) tossed seven innings of two-run, seven-hit ball while striking out six in the victory. The Cardinals start a series with the Cincinatti Reds today at Busch Stadium and you can hear it on KSMO at 2:00.
Brian Elliott was spectacular in a 28-save shutout as the St. Louis Blues posted a 1-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. Thanks to Elliott's first shutout of the season, St. Louis now has 44 points on the season and moved from the eighth playoff spot to the sixth seed in the Western Conference. Chris Porter scored the only goal of the game on assists from Barret Jackman and Patrik Berglund for the Blues, who have won four straight. The Blues will be in Nashville to play the Predators on Tuesday.
Billy Butler hit a grand slam and tied a franchise record with seven RBI as the Kansas City Royals topped the Philadelphia Phillies, 9-8, on Sunday. Alex Gordon went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI for the Royals, who took the rubber match of the three-game series after blowing a 3-1 lead in the ninth on Saturday. James Shields (1-1) shook off a rough start and lasted six frames, allowing four runs on 10 hits while striking out eight to earn the win. The Royals start a series with the Twins this afternoon.

Funeral services for Loretta Reed of Willow Springs, age 96, will be held Tuesday at noon at the Dent County Memorial Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be held from Tuesday morning from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Dry Fork Cemetery.
