The Municipal Election was held Tuesday in Dent County and 1,394 ballots were cast which is about 17.27% of the registered voters. Here are the results from the election:

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a disturbance and thefts. On Saturday, April 4th at 1:14 in the early morning, an officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of Highway 19 North in reference to a disturbance. The report led to the arrest of a 27-year old Salem woman for an assault. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Sunday, April 5th at 9:30 in the morning, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft. The report revealed that between 6:00 and 6:30 the evening before, the victim’s truck was parked on the Wal-Mart parking lot. During this time the trailer hitch was removed from the truck. The hitch was valued at $300.00.  At 11:55 the same morning, an officer was detailed to the 700 block of East Fourth Street in reference to a theft. The report revealed that sometime over the weekend, a Samsung DVD camcorder was removed from the residence by a person or persons unknown. The camcorder is valued at $198.00. Anyone with any information regarding the thefts, which are still under investigation, is asked to please contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.                            

The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports involving burglaries, an abandoned vehicle, a stolen vehicle and a prowler. On Saturday, April 4th at 12:26 in the early morning, a call came in of a burglary on Red Bud Lane. The resident reported that someone threw a C-clamp through the basement window. The Dent County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call on Sunday, April 5th at 6:04 in the morning regarding an abandoned vehicle on Highway DD. A red Dodge 3500 flat bed pickup had been driven off into the ditch, and the keys were still in the ignition. The owner was notified and stated that permission had not been given to anyone to drive the vehicle. The owner later notified the Department that a family member had taken the vehicle and they did not want to report the vehicle as stolen. At 8: 40 that evening, deputies responded to a burglary in Lenox. The resident reported that the only thing taken was medication. At 10:33 that same night, a report came in reference to a stolen vehicle from Dent County Road 4330. The report revealed that the owner of the vehicle had broken down on County Road 4330. When the owner returned a short time later, the vehicle was missing. At 11:00 that same night, a call came in for a prowler. Reported was a white van parked down by a pond just past the Howes Mill store. Upon arrival, deputies found the van was gone. Anyone with any information regarding the burglaries, the stolen vehicle or the prowler, which are still under investigation, is asked to please contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Department by calling 729-3241.

The Dent County Schools including Salem R-80, Oak Hill R-I, Green Forest R-II, Dent-Phelps R-III and Northwood R-IV will be closed on Friday, April 10th and Monday, April 13th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 14th.

Grant Gordon pitched a two-hitter and struck out ten batters to help lead the Salem Tigers over the Houston Tigers by the score of 2-1. C.J. Smith and Aaron Loker each had two hits, and Louis Carroll had a hit and RBI for Salem who improved their record to 4-1 on the year and 1-0 in the SCA. The Tigers will host the West Plains Zizzers today at 4:00 in a makeup game. KSMO will NOT broadcast the game today due to prior commitments.

The Salem Golf team finished 4th out of 5 at Willow Springs on Tuesday. Salem finished with a score of 209 and individual scores were Robbie Brooks with a 50, Connor Stroburg shooting a 51, Zach Pogue with a 52 and Branden Piatt shooting a 56. Salem will host a tournament this Thursday weather permitting.

Albert Pujols finished 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and two walks, as the St. Louis Cardinals downed the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-3, to pick up their first win this season. Chris Duncan also hit a two-run homer and walked twice, while Yadier Molina added a solo shot for St. Louis. St. Louis pounded out 12 hits Tuesday, of which Khalil Greene, Molina and Colby Rasmus each had two. The Cardinals also walked eight times. Kyle Lohse (1-0) provided a solid start for St. Louis, as he allowed three runs -- two earned -- on five hits an a walk in seven innings. He also struck out four. The Cards and Pirates play again tonight at 6:55 on KSMO Radio.

Jim Thome finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and his eighth-inning three-run home run lifted Chicago past Kansas City, 4-2, in the season-opener for both clubs at U.S. Cellular Field. Alex Gordon homered and drove in both runs for the Royals, who had won their last two season-opening games. Kyle Farnsworth (0-1) was tagged in the loss for four hits and three runs in that fateful eighth inning. Gil Meche scattered seven hits and one run over seven full frames, fanning six without a walk. The Royals and Whie Sox play again tonight.

B.J. Crombeen scored twice and the St. Louis Blues inched closer to their first playoff berth since the spring of 2004 with a 5-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes. Keith Tkachuk tallied a goal and an assist while Brad Winchester and David Perron also scored for the Blues, who won for the seventh time in nine games and moved into sole possession of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed wide receiver Rodney Wright and long snapper Tanner Purdum.

The Cardinal pocket schedules have arrived and are available around town and at the KSMO Radio Station lobby.

The City of Salem Summer Youth Baseball, Softball and T-Ball Programs are just around the corner. Signups for children ages 4-14 years old will be held today and then again on Thursday and Friday, April 9th, 10th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The final sign-up will be held on Saturday, April 11th from 9:00 am to noon. All sign-ups will be held in the front lobby of the Salem Freedom Activity Center.
