The Municipal Election was held Tuesday in Dent County and 1,394 ballots were cast which is about 17.27% of the registered voters. Here are the official results from the election for Dent County only:

Due to work being done to the Mason Hall on Washington Street, between Third and Fourth Street, Washington Street will be blocked off during working hours, until the work is complete. The Salem Police Department would like to thank you in advance for you patience.

The Salem Police Department released a number of reports. On Sunday, March 28th at 5:30 p.m. an officer was contacted at the station in reference to harassment that led to the arrest of a 17-year old Salem male for harassment and sexual misconduct.  He was issued summons to appear in court and released. On Monday March 29th at 12:52 p.m. an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a forgery. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown stole a check and forged it in the amount of $250.00. At 12:57 p.m. that afternoon an officer was detailed to Dollar General in reference to suspicious activity. The report led to the arrest of a 21-year old Salem female for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was incarcerated pending the application for warrants. On Tuesday March 30th at 8:30 a.m. an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown entered a 2007 Ford truck parked in the 800 block of North Henderson and took a touch screen CD/DVD/MP3 player from the dash of the truck. The value of the player is $800.00. At 8:35 that same morning, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The report revealed that a person or persons unknown entered a 1989 Ford truck parked at Country Mart parking lot and took cash and items valued $295.00. At 3:00 p.m. that afternoon, an officer apprehended a 17-year old Salem male on two City of Salem warrants in the 700 block of East Fourth.  He was incarcerated on the warrants. Then at 6:22 p.m. that evening, an officer was detailed to the 800 block of South Carty in reference to a burglary. The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown entered a residence and took jewelry valued at $2,500.00. On Thursday, April 1st at 5:27 p.m. an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft.  The investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a cell phone valued at $150.00.  Anyone with any information regarding the thefts from vehicles, the burglary or the missing cell phone reports, which are under investigation, is asked to please contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

The first session of the series “Tyme for Herbs” will be held tomorrow night at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center. The session will feature Jerry Wilson as he teaches techniques for growing and harvesting domestic and wild herbs. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Salem golf team finished 3rd out of 5 teams at Willow Springs on Tuesday. Willow won the meet shooting a 153, Mt. Grove followed with a 167 and then Salem with a 195. Connor Stroburg shot a 43 to lead the Tigers, with Ben Adams shooting a 48, Dylan Sisco finished with a 49, Adam Wood shot a 55, and C.J. Davison ended up with a 58 which did not count toward the total. The Tigers will be back in action this Thursday at the Salem Invitational Tournament.

Brandon Joyce had a home run and two triples and drove in six runs to lead the West Plains Zizzers past the Salem Tigers, 17-3. Justin Rich hit a three-run homer for West Plains who has not lost at home this year. Salem’s Ashton Karr hit a two-run homer for Salem who have lost four straight and are now 2-5 on the year. They will be at Cabool Thursday night for an SCA game against the Bulldogs.

The St. Louis Cardinals will be at Cincinnati tonight in the second of the three game series starting at 6:00. You can hear the game on KSMO starting at 5:50.

The St. Louis Blues will be at Chicago tonight to face the Blackhawks starting at 7:30 in attempt to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. KSMO will join the game in progress following the Cardinals game.

Graveside services for Chet Max Gilbert of Salem, age 81, will be held Friday morning at 10:30 at the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, with Military Honors at the Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held in Salem at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral services for Katheryn Ann “Kay” Page of Salem, age 75, will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the Salem Full Gospel Church. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Funeral services for Georgia Lee Warner of Rolla, age 82, will be at a later date at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Rolla. Interment will be private. All arrangements are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla.
