The Salem Police Department released their reports. On Thursday, March 21st at 11:28 in the evening, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of South Pershing in reference to a peace disturbance. The investigation revealed that a 25-year old Salem female was extremely intoxicated and had assaulted at least one person as well as kicking vehicles. Further investigation led to her arrest, and she was issued a summons to appear in court and incarcerated on a 12-hour hold. On Friday, March 22nd at 7:21 in the evening, an officer transported a 21-year old female of San Diego, California to Ozark Medical Center in West Plains in lieu of a mental commitment order. On Saturday, March 23rd at 12:16 in the morning, a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. Investigation of the stop led to the arrest of a 38-year old Salem male for driving while revoked. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. Later at 4:28 that morning, an officer was sent to a residence in the 300 block of North Russell in reference to a disturbance. The investigation revealed that someone was banging on a door of a residence and yelling while in an intoxicated condition.  Further investigation led to the arrest of a 39-year old male of Salem for disorderly conduct and peace disturbance. At 6:50 that evening, an officer was called to Walmart in reference to leaving the scene an accident. That investigation revealed that a Maroon 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by a 43-year old male of Salem had hit a Maroon 1996 GMC Sonoma and left the scene. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect who was found to be intoxicated. The suspect was issued summonses to appear in court for driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident and released. Anyone with information about an ongoing investigation is asked to contact the Salem Police Department at 729-4242.

The Dent County Fire Protection District released their reports. On Sunday, March 24th a call came in at 8:30 pm for a medical assist at a family dwelling on county road 3225. A total of four firefighters responded to the call and all units were back in service at 9:02 that evening. On Monday, March 25th at 7:19 in the evening a total of nine firefighters responded to a building fire on county road 2895 at a family dwelling. No injuries were reported and units were back in service at 8:17 pm. On Friday, March 29th at 12:06 in the afternoon a total of four firefighters provided manpower for a medical assist on Highway 32 in Salem. Then on Sunday, March 31st at 6:44 pm, a total of nine firefighters responded to the fire station on South Main Street in Salem to provide manpower for a landing zone. All units were back at 7:11 pm.

On Friday, March 29th the Dent County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol, arrested two suspects for the theft of cattle that occurred at the Salem Livestock Auction in Dent County on Wednesday, March 27th . Arrested were Manu Te'o, age 25, of Waynesville and Eric O'Connell, age 30, of Iberia.  Both suspects were charged with seven felonies and are currently being held at the Dent County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash only bond. Both have now been charged with one felony count of burglary in the 2nd degree and six felony counts of theft and/or stealing property and/or services of $500 or more, but less than $25,000. The Dent County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their assistance in this investigation.

Captain Lee Ann Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that on Monday, April 15th troopers will be conducting a “Click It Or Ticket” enforcement campaign throughout the six-county Troop I area. This operation is part of a national effort to help increase awareness of the importance of wearing a seat belt and properly restraining your child in a safety seat. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!

Hunter Barnes went 4-4 with 2 RBI and Lane Stluka finished 3-4 with 2 RBI as the Salem Tigers defeated the St. James Tigers, 11-6 Tuesday at the SHS Baseball Complex. Darwin Flaherty was 1-1 in the game and drove in three runs while Adam Ziske threw 3 2/3rds innings of scoreless relief to get the win. Jacob Ford had a three-run double in a six-run fourth inning for St. James. Salem is now 3-2 on the year and they are scheduled to play at Ava on Thursday.

Matt Holliday and Jon Jay each hit a two-run home run and Pete Kozma added a solo shot, as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-1, on Tuesday at Chase Field. Cardinal starter Jaime Garcia (1-0) pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on two hits, but also walked four batters and needed 97 pitches. These two teams will play again tonight at 8:05 and you can hear it on KSMO.

The Kansas City Royals had the day off yesterday but they will resume their series with the Chicago White Sox this afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:10.
