On Tuesday, April 1, at 8:00 in the evening, the Dent County Sheriff's Department received information from the Lubbock Texas Police Department, that 19-year old Nathan L. Lemer, was wanted by their department and that there was an active warrant charging Lemer with Capital Murder. A possible location where Lemer might be was at a residence located off of Highway 19 south of Highway WW.  Dent County Deputies assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Salem Police Department K-9 Unit responded to that residence in an attempt to locate the subject.  Lemer was located and taken into custody without incident. A Dent County warrant was issued charging Lemer with "Fugitive From Out Of State" and bond was set at $750.000. Wednesday, Lemer signed a Waiver of Extradition and Consent to Return. Lemer is being held in the Dent County Jail awaiting pickup by the Lubbock Police Department.

An accident happened at 10:35 Wednesday morning in Dent County on County Road 4090, less than a mile from County Road 4060. According to the highway patrol report, a 2002 Ford Ranger driven by 66-year old Michael Femmer of Salem and 1996 Toyota Tacoma driven by 57-year old Donna Nelson of Salem met on a curve. The Toyota attempted to slow down and begin skidding and struck the Ford. 56-year old Carol Femmer a passenger in the Ford suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to the Salem Memorial District Hospital. The Ford and Toyota suffered minor damage and both were driven from the scene.

The 2008 Dent County Spring Festival will be held at The Commons May 1st through the 3rd. Contests for Dent County Baby, Princess, Little Miss. and Mr. and will be held during the Spring Festival. On Friday May 1st will be the garden tractor and mini rod pull, and on Saturday, May 2nd will the Demolition Derby. Admission is $6 for adults and children under 12 are free.

A full slate of local sports is scheduled for today, but the weather will play havoc with getting the events in. The Salem Golf Team will host the Salem Invitational this morning at 9:00, weather permitting. The Salem Tiger Tennis Team will host the Mountain View-Liberty Eagles at 4:00, weather permitting, and the Salem Tiger Track teams will be at Sullivan at 4:15, weather permitting.

The Salem Tiger Baseball Tigers are scheduled to host the Willow Springs Bears at 4:30 today, weather permitting. If played, you will hear the game on KSMO Radio and online at www.ksmoradio.com. The rain out on Monday with Cabool has been rescheduled for April 22nd at Cabool at 4:30.

Ryan Ludwick went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and three runs batted in, as the St. Louis Cardinals fought off the Colorado Rockies, 8-3, for their first win of the campaign, thanks in part to a four-run eighth inning. Todd Wellemeyer (1-0) tossed five solid innings for the Cardinals, allowing one run on four hits and striking out six while walking three. Albert Pujols finished 2-for-2 with three walks and an RBI, and Rick Ankiel went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored for St. Louis. In the finale of the three-game set today, the Cardinals' Brad Thompson will duel with Colorado's Ubaldo Jimenez at noon. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio today if the game is played.

Brian Bannister threw seven strong innings and Billy Butler drove in a pair of runs, leading the Kansas City Royals to a 4-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Mark Grudzielanek scored twice and Joey Gathright added a pair of hits with a run scored for the Royals. Jose Guillen and Mark Teahen each knocked in a run for Kansas City. Bannister (1-0) limited the high-powered Tigers to a pair of singles with four strikeouts and no walks. He retired the last 12 batters he faced and improved to 8-3 in 19 career road games. The young right-hander is coming off a 12-9 season in 2007 that saw him finish third in the AL Rookie of the Year balloting.

The St. Louis Blues will travel to Nashville to face the Predators in the back end of a home and home series tonight starting at 7:00. The Blues have lost five of the last six. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

Funeral services for Aubrey E. Pavy of Salem, age 89, will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will be held this evening from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
