An accident happened at 5:10 in Dent County on Highway 19 about 17 miles south of Salem Wednesday evening. According to the highway patrol report, a 1994 Ford Aerostar driven northbound by 50-year old Terry Warren of Salem, went off the right side of the roadway, then came back onto the road and pulled into the path of a 1998 Toyota Tacoma driven southbound by 36-year old Alexander Gill of Jefferson City. Warren suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Salem Memorial District Hospital by the highway patrol officer. Both drivers were wearing seat restraints at the time of the accident. The Ford Aerostar sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene by Tyler’s Towing. The Toyota Tacoma also sustained moderate damage in the accident and was driven from the scene.

An accident happened at 8:00 Wednesday evening on Highway 19 about five miles north of Salem. According to the highway patrol report, 30-year old Nicholas Haley of Salem was driving a 1989 Toyota Pickup southbound and drove off the right side of the roadway. The Toyota then struck a downed tree and overturned, partially ejecting Haley from the truck. Haley suffered serious injuries and was flown by Air Evac to the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia. Haley was not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Toyota pickup was totaled in the accident and removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing of Salem.

Filing for the primary for Dent County elected offices ended on Tuesday and two county offices will have a primary. For the office of Dent County Treasurer for the Republican party, incumbent Denita Williams will be opposed by Chris Welch; and for the office of Presiding Commissioner on the Republican ticket, incumbent Darrell Skiles will be challenged by James A. Kotschedoff. Other current office holders are unopposed in the re-election bid in the primary. They include for the Democrat Party Circuit Clerk Ruth Ann Williams, County Clerk Angie Curley, Collector Dennis Medlock, Prosecuting Attorney Brandi Baird and Associate Circuit Judge Sanborn N. (Sandy) Ball. Recorder of Deeds Cindy Edwards Ard who is a Republican will also be unopposed in the primary. Committeemen and committeewomen filings have also ended. Here is a list of those who filed for the Republican Party: in the Spring Creek East Township, Committeeman Michael Homeyer and Committeewoman Jamie L. Homeyer; in Osage Township, Committeeman Milton D. Harris and Committeewoman Linda J. Harris; in the Texas Township, Committeeman Jack Cole and Committeewoman Shirley Cole; in the Meramec Township, Committeewoman Cathy Pepper; in the Franklin Township, Committeeman Hershel Moser and Committeewoman Julie Moser; in the Watkins Township, Committeeman James Karnes and Committeewoman Joyce Karnes; in the Norman Township, Committeeman Bill Smith and Committeewoman Mary A. Smith; and in the Current Township, Committeeman Steve R. Gorman and Committeewoman Charlotte R. Gorman. Here is the list of those who filed for the Democrat Party: in the Spring Creek West Township, Committeeman Richard L. Kitchen and Committeewoman Susan D. Smith; in the Linn Township, Terrence P. Parmenter; in the Texas Township, Committeewoman Sharon English; in the Norman Township, Committeeman Red Cummings; and in the Gladden Township, Committeeman Marvin McDonald. For the Constitution Party, filing for the Franklin Township was Committeeman Rod Farthing and Committeewoman Jan Farthing.

The Missouri State Treasurer’s office is required by law to collect and maintain property and funds that are unclaimed by Missourians. Financial institutions, businesses, government agencies and other organizations turn in these items. The state holds more than $550 million dollars in unclaimed assets and some of this could belong to you. One in every 10 Missourians has assets being held by the Unclaimed Property Division.
