The Salem Tiger Baseball team was shut out in five innings Thursday at Houston by Mountain Grove, 10-0. Salem is now 0-3 on the year and they will be at Licking on Tuesday at 4:30.
The high school track meet scheduled for yesterday in Salem was postponed.
The City of Salem Spring Youth Soccer Program is just around the corner. This league is for all boys and girls that are currently age 4 12 years old. Spring Youth Soccer Sign-Ups will be held today from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Community Center @ the Armory located at 1200 West Rolla Road in Salem. Sign-Ups will also be held on Saturday, March 29th from 9:00 am to 12:00 (noon) in the front lobby of the Salem High School Gym. Final sign-ups will be held Thursday, April 3rd and Friday, April 4th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the front lobby of the Community Center @ the Armory. T.J. Oshie's first career hat trick highlighted the St. Louis Blues' latest victory, a 5-1 drubbing of the slumping Minnesota Wild at Scottrade Center on Thursday. Jaden Schwartz and Brenden Morrow also tallied for the current Western Conference leaders, who improved to 11-2-1 since acquiring goaltender Ryan Miller from Buffalo on February 28th. Miller did his part as well in this one, taking a shutout bid into the final nine minutes and turning aside 27 of the 28 shots he faced. The Blues will host the Dallas Stars on Saturday and you can hear it on KSMO Radio starting with the pre-game show at 6:30.
Derek Dietrich stroked a two-run single to spark Miami's five-run eighth inning, as the Marlins secured a 6-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday in spring training action. St. Louis starter Michael Wacha surrendered just one run on five hits and a walk while striking out six over five frames. Daniel Descalso clubbed a run- scoring double in the setback. The Cardinals will wrap up Spring Training action tonight when they play their Triple-A affiliate Memphis Redbirds in Memphis. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio starting at 6:35. The Cardinals will open up their regular season schedule on Monday when they travel to Cincinnati to start a three game series with the Reds.
The Kansas City Royals had the day off yesterday but they will wrap up their Spring Training schedule when they play the Milwaukee Brewers tonight at 7:10 and Saturday at 1:10 at Miller Park. The Royals will then be in Detroit on Monday to play the Tigers to start the season.
