Andrew Conaway had three RBI and pitched four hitless and scoreless innings as Salem defeated the Licking Wildcats, 10-6. Lane Stluka had two RBI for Salem as they blew a 4-0 lead after two innings only to rally to tie the game in the 4th inning and take the lead in the fifth inning. Licking scored all six of their runs in the third inning helped by three Salem Tiger errors. Ben Denbow had two hits and two RBI for the Wildcats. Salem is 3-2 on the year and they will host Potosi on Thursday starting at 4:30.
The Salem golf team won their first match of the year with a four score total of 184. Houston was second with a 185, Licking 3rd with a 197, and then Steelville with a 245. Salem scores were Alan Benowitz with a 43; Ben Adams, Adam Wood, and Dylan Sisco all with a 47; and C.J. Davison with a 50, which didn't count toward the overall total.
Brian Elliott made 24 saves to earn his third straight shutout and his league-leading ninth of the year as the St. Louis Blues downed the Nashville Predators, 3-0, at Scottrade Center. Jamie Langenbrunner celebrated his 1,100th career game with a goal, while David Perron and T.J. Oshie also scored for the Blues, who improved to 30-4-4 at home on the season to set a new franchise mark in home victories. The Blues play the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.
Eric Hosmer belted two home runs and finished with four RBI as the Kansas City Royals edged the Milwaukee Brewers, 9-7, in Cactus League action on Tuesday. Yuniesky Betancourt, Mike Moustakas, and Max Ramirez each hit home runs for the Royals and starter Bruce Chen picked up the win after tossing six-plus innings while giving up three runs on seven hits and striking out six. The Royals play Texas tonight.
The Cardinals were off yesterday but will play the Detroit Tigers this afternoon at 12:05.

Interment will be in the Freeman Cemetery in Cherryville. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Meals on Wheels or the Senior Center, both of Salem.
Virginia Lorine Shelton passed away March 28th in Salem. Miss Shelton was cremated and there will be a Memorial Service at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.
