The Salem Police Department released their reports. On Sunday, March 10th at 5:28, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of South Pershing in reference to a theft. That investigation revealed that a 20-year old Salem male had stolen an EBT card and used it in the amount of $160. He was arrested, issued summonses to appear in court for stealing and fraudulent use of a credit device, and released. On Monday, March 11th at 9:38 in the morning, an officer was dispatched to the Salem Head Start located in the 1400 block of South Wines in reference to stolen fuel. The investigation revealed that someone took fuel valued at $63.84 from a bus. On Tuesday, March 12th at 12:23 in the afternoon, an officer made contact with a 35-year old Salem female who had active arrest warrants from Dent County and Maries County. She was taken into custody and was later released after posting bond and given a new court date. At that same time an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a stolen vehicle. That investigation revealed that a 35-year old Salem male took a white 1993 Chevrolet truck valued at $2,000 from the 1200 block of Iron Mountain Road without permission and has not returned it. On Thursday, March 14th at 3:51 in the evening, an officer was dispatched to Casey’s General Store on Highway 32 in reference to theft of fuel. The investigation revealed that the driver of a red Chevrolet four-wheel drive truck pumped $5.02 in fuel and left without paying, traveling east on Highway 32. On Friday, March 15th at 10:00 in the morning, an officer was dispatched to the Salem Jr. High School in reference to an assault. That investigation revealed that a 16-year old female juvenile of Salem had assaulted another 16-year old female juvenile of Salem. She was detained and later released to her parent. The report will be forwarded to the Juvenile Office. At 10:09 that same morning, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of West Franklin in reference to a burglary. The investigation revealed that someone entered an unoccupied residence by force and caused $150 in property damage. That afternoon at 12:34, an officer was dispatched to the Subway parking lot at the Crossroads Shopping Center in reference to a child walking on the highway unattended. That investigation revealed that a 2-year old female juvenile was walking across Highway 19 pushing a toy when a concerned motorist stopped, helped the child out of the road, and contacted the police. After a short time the father of the child was located who said the juvenile had walked out of a residence on South Washington.  The father, a 28-year old male of Salem, was later placed under arrest for endangering the welfare of a child. He was released after being issued a summons to appear in court. Later that night at 9:48, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of South Mildred in reference to property damage. The investigation revealed that someone had thrown a rock through a window that was valued at $100. On Saturday, March 16th at 1:31 in the early morning, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of South Jackson in reference to a possible burglary. The investigation revealed that a 34-year old male of Salem was in an intoxicated condition and attempting to enter a residence he had no association with. He was arrested for peace disturbance, disorderly conduct, assaulting a law enforcement officer, failure to obey a lawful order of a police officer, and trespassing.  He was incarcerated on a 12-hour hold and issued summons to appear in court. Later that night at 8:20 in the evening, an officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter. That investigation led to the arrest of a 23-year old male of Salem for stealing merchandise valued $13.97. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Wednesday, March 20th at 10:08 in the morning, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of East Roosevelt in reference to a theft. The investigation revealed that someone took $1,000 from a wallet in a purse. Contact the Salem Police Department at 729-4242 if you have any info regarding theses reports.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced the highway maintenance that will take place now through April 5th. In Dent County, roadside maintenance will take place through Friday, April 5th on Route E between Highway 119 and Route K. In Crawford County, roadside maintenance will take place Monday, April 1st through Thursday, April 4th on Highway 8 between Highway 19 and Route Y and also on Route Y between Highway 49 and Route V. In Phelps County, roadside maintenance will take place Monday, April 1st through Thursday, April 4th on Route P between Route J and Route T. Culvert pipe replacement will take place through Thursday, April 4th on Route U between Interstate 44 and the end of state maintenance. The start time of the Salem Tiger Baseball game against Potosi on Thursday, March 28th has been moved to 2:00 in the afternoon.

Nikolai Khabibulin posted 43 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Edmonton Oilers took a 3-0 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. Jake Allen allowed three goals on seven shots before being pulled early in the second period for the Blues, who have lost three of their last four. Jaroslav Halak stopped all 12 shots he faced in relief. The Blues will host the L.A. Kings on Thursday.

Pete Kozma clubbed a grand slam during a six-run fourth inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals blasted the New York Mets, 11-4, on Tuesday. Yadier Molina added a two-run homer and Rob Johnson supplied a solo shot in the ninth for the Cardinals, who will play the Nationals today.

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese will start the season on the disabled list because of a lower back strain. The move is retroactive to March 23rd, which will make him eligible to return April 7th. Closer Jason Motte will also likely start the season on the disabled list because of a muscle flexor strain.

Miguel Tejada had two RBI as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Seattle Mariners, 11-6, on Tuesday. Jeff Francoeur also knocked in two runs for the Royals, who will play split squad games against the Brewers and Cubs today.

Funeral services for Tommy King of Salem, age 89, will be held today at 11:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 until time of service. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem.

Funeral services for Raymond Lee Stroup of Cuba, formerly of Steelville, will be held at 1:00 Thursday at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be held from 11:00 in the morning until service time. Interment will be in the Martin-Trask Cemetery in Cherryville. Memorials may be given to the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home for funeral expenses.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Ronald David Graham of Salem, age 61, on Saturday, at 12:00 (noon) at the Gladden Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Graham Family. All arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary of Salem.
