The Salem Baseball Tigers defeated Thayer at Mountain View last night by the final score of 10-7. Ryan Smith picked up the win and Andrew Conaway the save. Brady Floyd and Devon Sutterfield led the offense as each player had two doubles in the come from behind win. Salem is 2-1 on the year and will host the Licking Wildcats Tuesday at 4:30 in Salem.
The City of Salem Summer Youth Baseball- Softball-T-Ball sign-ups will be held today in the front lobby of the Salem Freedom Activity Center located on West Rolla Road from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. There will be a sign-up on Saturday, March 26th in the front lobby of the Salem High School Gym from 8:30 am to noon. Angel Pagan's three-run shot in the fourth inning was one of five New York home runs, as the Mets rocked the Cardinals, 16-3. Yadier Molina finished with two hits and an RBI, while Skip Schumaker hit a run-scoring double for the Cardinals. Jaime Garcia was rocked in defeat for 14 hits and 10 runs, only three earned, in four frames. The Cards will play Florida tomorrow and the New York Mets Sunday at 11:45 and both games can be heard on KSMO Radio.
Melky Cabrera hit a two-run homer and drove in the decisive run in the top of the ninth, lifting the Royals to a 9-8 spring training victory over the Mariners. Lance Zawadzki and Alex Gordon also ripped two-run shots for Kansas City, while Pedro Feliz hit two RBI doubles. Royals’ starter Bruce Chen allowed four runs on five hits in six innings.
