The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a search warrant, runaway juveniles, a leave without paying for fuel and a disturbance. On Thursday, March 18th at 8:00 p.m. a search warrant was served in the 300 block of East Truman. Results of the search warrant led to the arrest of 20-year old Sean M. Jones and 32-year-old Jennifer Marie Tarwater. Both were charged with one felony count of a controlled substance, two felony counts of endangering the welfare of child in the 1st degree for being near a school, one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana and one misdemeanor count of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Also arrested and charged were 27-year-old Damien M. Banks and 20-year old Suzanne L. Banks. Both were charged with one felony count of a controlled substance, and two felony counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the 1st degree. Bond was set for each one at $30,000 CASH ONLY. On Friday, March 19th at 2:00 p.m. an officer was sent to the 500 block of South Henderson in reference to runaway juveniles. The report led to the detention of two female juveniles: a 16-year old and 17-year old from the New Hope Residential facility in Park Hills. Further investigation revealed they had stolen a 1997 Saturn from the Farmington area. The vehicle was driven to Salem and was recovered in the 400 block of West Gibbs Street. The juveniles were released to the juvenile authorities. On Saturday, March 20th at 1:30 p.m. an officer was dispatched to Highway 19 South to the Mobil Convenience Store in reference to a leave without paying for fuel. The report revealed the driver of a blue and gray Ford pickup left without paying for $20.05 of fuel. On Sunday, March 21st at 7:22 p.m. an officer was detailed to the 300 block of North McArthur Avenue in reference to a disturbance. The report led to the arrest of a 22-year old Springfield woman for disorderly conduct and open alcohol container. She was issued summons to appear in court and incarcerated on the charges. The City Wide Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the City of Salem Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Saturday, March 27th at the Salem R-80 Upper Elementary School beginning at 10:00 am. The Easter Egg Hunt is for age toddler through ten years old. There will be designated areas for the different age groups. Be sure and bring your own basket, no registration is necessary. The Easter Bunny will be arriving by Fire Truck. For more information call the Chamber at 729-6900.

The Salem Area Community Betterment Association, KSMO Radio and the Salem News hosted a Candidate Forum for the municipal election for the City of Salem Tuesday night at the Salem City Hall Auditorium. Candidates in attendance were incumbent Mayor Gary Brown and Bill Riley Jr. for the mayoral position, Jerry Randell and George LaJoie for the East Ward Aldermanic seat and incumbent Kenneth Nash and John Whelan for the West Ward Aldermanic position. Questions directed at all the candidates dealt with the budget, energy conservation and issues dealing with electric rate increases, grants, the importance of tourism and the Salem Freedom Activity Center to the community, jobs as well as business creation in town. One question was directed to the mayoral candidates only about holding the position of Mayor and Director of Public Works. Phillip Giacomelli was the moderator of the event that is available online in the streaming archives of the Streaming section at the www.ksmoradio.com website. KSMO Radio will also replay the forum at approximately 2:30 Friday afternoon for those who could not attend Tuesday night or get the Internet.

Brayan Pena hit a two-run shot and the Royals scored a run in the ninth to tie the Chicago Cubs, 5-5, in Cactus League action. Alberto Callaspo tripled, scored once and drove in a run for the Royals, who got five solid frames in the start by Luke Hochevar, who gave up one run on five hits with three strikeouts. KC will play the LA Angels today.

The St. Louis Cardinals were off yesterday but will play the Baltimore Orioles today.

Cardinal’s slugger Albert Pujols underwent an MRI exam and received an anti-inflammatory injection after being scratched from the lineup Monday with a re-occurrence of tightness in his lower back. St. Louis general manager John Mozeliak indicated on the team's website that the MRI was done to locate the point of pain in Pujols' back in order to administer the injection and that he's considered day-to-day.

The City of Salem Summer Youth Baseball/ Softball/T-Ball program is just around the corner. Signups will be held Thursday and Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the front lobby of the Salem Freedom Activity Center located at 1201 West Rolla Road. These will be the FINAL signups. This league is for all boys and girls who are age 4 to 14 as of May 1, 2010. The cost is $15.00 per child. For more info, call 729-6290.

Funeral services for Alma James of Rolla, age 88, will be held today at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Chapel in Rolla. Interment will be in the James Community Cemetery in Vienna. Memorials may be made to the James Community Cemetery.

Military Honors will be held for James “Jamie” Marcus Hagler of Linn, age 41, today at 5:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until service time. Memorials may be made to the Thomas Christopher Freeman and Hope Hagler Scholarship Fund.

Funeral services for Mary Jean Peterson of Salem, age 71, will be held Thursday at 2:00 at the Dry Fork Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Dry Fork Cemetery. All the arrangements are under the direction of the Dent County Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services for Margaret Louise Ellis of Salem, age 63, will be held Friday morning at 10:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Thayer. Memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.

Funeral services for James S. Gibson of Rolla, age 81, will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the Victor Baptist Church Cemetery in Anutt with Full Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to the Anutt Community Church.

Funeral services for Ruth Ellen Bisbee of Cuba, age 85, are incomplete at this time, and are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary of Rolla.
