The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting Monday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. At the meeting, county surveyor Craig Ruble was in attendance to help clarify some specs in his bid for the county plat books. The Commissioners wanted to know the size of the wall maps that he could provide and the cost of those maps, and Ruble said that they would be 36” by 48” and they would be on 50-pound bond paper at a cost of $40 each. He also said that he could have the plat books and maps delivered to the county no later that July 15th. After a lengthy discussion, the commissioners agreed to go with Ruble Surveying for 300 plat books for $27 each for Dent County. Ruble also discussed with Commissioners Larson and Purcell about setting time aside to learn the software on the computer at his office that deals with county road data. He said that they could get together in about two or three weeks and the training should take about 20 hours. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell said that the work crews were servicing Dent County Truck #117, cleaning out culverts, repairing the chip and seal patcher and checking numerous roads for soft spots. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson also reported that workers are checking roads for soft spots and adding gravel where needed, checking bridges and looking for downed signs, and are cleaning out crossover pipes. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that he attended the Small Business Entrepreneurial Workshop in Rolla Friday night hosted by Senator Frank Barnitz that he felt was very informative. He said that he would be attending a meeting with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and the MRPC Thursday in St. James.  At the last meeting, Circuit Clerk Ruth Ann Williams came in to discuss the previous bids on a new telephone system for the Judicial Building First  Floor. She recommended the bid from Embarq (CenturyLink) for $11,496.51 that included a three-year maintenance contract, and the commission approved her recommendation. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting will be open to the public.
