Patricia Happel of Salem has a system for selecting Powerball® numbers, and it paid off. The 61-year-old, who uses a combination of “past numbers that were winners, numbers that come up a lot,” and her own random numbers, won $10,000 by matching all four white-ball numbers and the Powerball on Wednesday, March 14th. She recalled how she and her husband of 40 years, Marvin, “kept double checking” their numbers on the Lottery’s website, Molottery.com. While claiming the prize at Lottery headquarters, Happel declared the prize money was “going to go in savings.” “He just retired, and I’m getting ready to retire,” she said. “This makes us feel even better about it!” Happel purchased her winning Powerball ticket at Casey’s General Store located at 201 South Main Street in Salem.
