The City of Salem summer baseball, t-ball, and softball signups will be held today and Friday, March 23rd and again on Thursday, March 29th and Friday, March 30th at the Salem TCRC from 4:00 to 6:00. There will also be a signup on Saturday, March 24th at the Salem High School Gym while the youth basketball games are going on. The Salem Tiger baseball games in the Houston Tournament have been cancelled for today. The games are rescheduled for Friday, March 23rd. Salem will finish their game against Houston at 2:00 and take on Mt. Grove at 4:00.
Jason Blake scored the eventual game-winning goal late in the third period as the Anaheim Ducks edged the St. Louis Blues, 4-3, on Wednesday at Honda Center. Jaden Schwartz, David Backes, and David Perron scored for the Blues, who have lost three of their last four contests. Jaroslav Halak was tagged for all four goals on 22 shots in defeat. The Blues will be in L.A. to face the Kings tonight at 9:30 and you can hear it on KSMO.
Jon Jay's RBI single in the ninth inning lifted the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the Mets in spring training action. Andron Chambers scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning and Lance Berkman batted in the other run for St. Louis. Jake Westbrook pitched six scoreless innings, giving up three hits while striking out three and walking none in the start. The Cardinals will play Washington today at 12:05.
Alex Gordon went 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Kansas City Royals knocked off the Oakland A's, 8-3, in Cactus League action on Wednesday. Billy Butler, Jeff Francoeur, Lorenzo Cain, Max Ramirez, Eric Hosmer and Greg Golston all drove in runs for the Royals, while starter Luis Mendoza gave up no runs in his one inning. The Royals will have split squad games this afternoon against the Angels and the White Sox.
St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher doesn't expect to replace suspended defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, saying the team will use "a collective effort" to handle the position instead. The NFL suspended Williams indefinitely Wednesday for his part in the bounty program operated while he was defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.
