He said that the tornado sirens were sounded during the statewide tornado drill last Thursday and they found a problem at the siren at 3rd and Grand. The fuses were changed and it was re-tested. He also said that the city would like to add at least two more sirens to the system, especially in the northern part of the city. Alderman Kenneth Nash asked about the employee handbook and City Attorney Nanci Wisdom said that it would be on the next board meeting agenda. The board approved the city policy for the charging of residential rates for a detached garage unless it is being used for commercial purposes. The reading of Bill #3220 that would create the position of a city administrator was postponed to correct some wording problems. The board approved to have Spring Clean-Up the weeks of April 18th through the 22nd, and April 25th through the 29th. The board approved holding a public hearing and having a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting concerning three petitions for annexation into the city including the property of Joshua Rowe at 1500 Beezley, Perry and Verna Inman at 1402 West Franklin, and the property of Mississippi Valley Forest Products, Inc. on Highway 32 West.
