The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Monday morning. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell reported that grading on Dent County Roads 4090, 4210 and 6100 while materials were going to be added to Dent County Roads 6090. He said that materials will also be added to Dent County Road 4215 and that brush was going to be cut on Dent County Road 6070. Purcell said that workers were going to be checking the roads in Bunker for storm damage and he went on to say that the temporary crossing at the Swiney Bridge washed out. Purcell reported that workers would salvage the pipes so that they can be reinstalled soon. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said that grading would be done on Dent County Road 4330, and materials would be added and grading would be done on Dent County Roads 2030 and 4060. He stated that workers would be checking for washouts from Saturday’s storms and also check for any downed trees. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said that he participated in a conference call meeting for the Meramec Regional Enhancement Corporation Monday morning. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that absentee voting continues until April 2^nd and that her office will be open on Saturday, March 31^st from 8:00 until noon for absentee voters. She also said that the last day to mail-out a ballot would be on Wednesday, March 28^th. At the last meeting, the board opened bids to chip and seal roads this year, but no decision was made. Matt Crosby, the District Engineer with the Corp of Engineers, came in to discuss the bridge on Dent County Road 3210, the repairs, the necessary permits and roadway construction. This Thursday, Senator Roy Blunt will have a listening post at the courthouse starting at 9:00. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meting is open to the public.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving an assault, theft, a domestic disturbance and an active City of Salem warrant. On Tuesday, March 6^th at 6:21 in the evening, an officer was contacted in reference to an assault that had just occurred. The investigation revealed that a 17-year old Salem male had assaulted a 16-year-old Salem male juvenile. The officer was advised the juvenile was being treated at the Salem Memorial Hospital for serious injuries. The suspect was arrested for 1^st degree assault and incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. On Wednesday, March 7^th at 3:31 in the afternoon, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of West Ninth in reference a theft. The investigation revealed that a person or persons unknown took a video eye computer monitor and a brass lamp valued at $1,300. Later that evening at 6:42, an officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Highway 19 South in reference to a domestic disturbance. The investigation revealed that a 25-year old Salem male had assaulted a 25-year old Salem female.  The suspect was arrested and incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. On Thursday, March 8^th at 11:00 at night, an officer was dispatched to the Phelps County Sheriffs Department to pick up a 46-year old Rolla male who was being held on an active City of Salem Warrant. He was transported and incarcerated in Dent County Jail. Anyone with any information regarding the theft report, which is still under investigation, is asked to contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their monthly meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and the minutes from the meeting held February 21^st, Comptroller Stephanie Wofford will present the summary of operations for the month of February. Director of Nursing Carol Lacy will then update the Board with the Nursing and Ancillary services reports. Administrator Dennis Pryor will update the Board with the Auxiliary report, hospital activity calendar, legislative issues and a construction update. In old business, the strategic planning goals update for 2011 will be addressed and there will be a report from the Finance Committee meeting. In new business the Board will address purchases. The Board may then vote to go into Closed Session. The monthly meeting of the Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors is open to the public.
