The Dent County Commission met Monday morning for their regular meeting at the courthouse. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell stated road crews would be out checking and treating slick spots on county roads, plus also identifying and replacing downed road signs as well as replacing missing street name signs. Purcell indicated that a fuel line was being serviced on truck #115 and maintenance work was being done on county truck #73. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson also stated that workers would be checking out and treating slick spots on county roads. He said workers would be changing out some grader blades getting the graders ready for use, and John Deere would be sending service personnel to check out an error code on a grader. Larson reported personnel from Great Rivers Associates Engineering would be at the commissioner meeting on Thursday at 10:00 to go over the new bridge project on Dent County Road 3210 before meeting with some landowners about the work to be done. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said that he presided over a Public Housing Authority hearing in St. James last week. His advice to anyone who is on HUD is to please read and pay attention to the conditions of the contract you sign, and contact the PHA should any changes in your housing situation occur. He said he attended the MRPC External Relations committee meeting and they reviewed their federal priorities that will be presented to legislators in Washington, DC. He also welcomed Senator Roy Blunt Thursday night at the MRPC meeting and asked about the delay in getting Forest Service money for Dent County. Skiles said he received a call from Blunt’s Jefferson City office Monday morning and they said they are checking into it. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley said absent voting will continue until April 7^th at 5:00 at the courthouse, and mail-out ballots must be sent by April 2^nd. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and itis open to the public.

U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill will host a public town hall meeting in Rolla today to hear directly from Missourians on how to continue expanding job and business opportunities. The “McCaskill on Main Street” tour is bringing the Senator to communities across the state this week, where she is hearing ideas and concerns from constituents, answering questions, and giving a firsthand update about her ongoing work in the Senate to boost jobs. Tuesday’s town hall will take place at The Havener Center at the Missouri S&T Campus. The get together will be held in the St. Pat’s Ballroom at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Salem R-80 Board of Education will hold their regular meeting tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the District Administrative Offices Board Room. After approval of the agendas and communications, the superintendent will report give his report on summer school and then give a building update. The principals from William Lynch, Upper Elementary, Junior High, and Senior High will give their respective reports. In new business, the board will set the organizational meeting date, approve the MSBA policy service agreement, consider the reading recovery purchased services agreement, consider an after school program coordinator, consider the health insurance proposal, and review resignations. The board will then adjourn and move into executive session.

The Salem Memorial District Hospital Board of Directors will conduct their monthly meeting tonight in the hospital library beginning at 6:00 pm. After approval of the agenda and the minutes from the February 18^th meeting will be the summary of operations and statistics report for February followed by the nursing and ancillary service reports. Administrator Dennis Pryor will then update the Board with an auxiliary report, hospital activity calendar and legislative updates followed by the Chief of Staff report. In old business the Board will address a 2011 strategic planning goals update, the Community Health Needs Assessment and a 2015 budget committee meeting. In new business the Board will address purchases made for the hospital. The Board may vote to go into closed session. The monthly meeting of the SMDH Board of Directors is open to the public.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released several arrest reports. On Monday, March 10^th at 2:40 in the afternoon, 20-year old Daniel Rictor of Salem was arrested in Crawford County on a felony warrant for unlawful use of a weapon. He was taken to the Dent County Jail and held on no bond. On Thursday, March 13^th at 5:30 in the evening, 21-year old Alexander Cargal of Salem was arrested in Dent County and charged with driving while revoked. He also had three misdemeanor Gasconade County warrants for no insurance, driving while revoked, and careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident. He was taken to the Dent County Jail and held on bond. On Saturday, March 15^th at 10:50 in the evening, 28-year old Joshua Sapaugh of St. James was arrested in Dent County and charged with a first offense of driving while intoxicated. He was released to a sober driver. At 11:42 that night, 32-year old Jason Archer of Salem was arrested in dent County and charged with a felony driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked, and failure to wear a seat belt. He was then released to a sober driver. On Sunday, March 16^th at 12:45 in the early morning, 42-year old Thomas Maize of Lesterville was arrested in Dent County and charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to signal.  He was later released.
