The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports. On Friday, March 6^th at 2:22 in the afternoon, a call came in from a residence on Dent County Road 3180 stating that an unknown male had drove into their yard. Upon arrival, deputies found a white male slumped down in the front seat of the vehicle. He was covered in blood and appeared to have numerous injuries to his body. He attempted to leave by starting the car, but deputies were able to remove the keys. He then ran from the vehicle for several minutes into a heavily wooded area and due to downed trees became tangled in the trees, as the deputies were in pursuit. After the ambulance crew of the Salem Memorial District Hospital evaluated him, he was transported to the hospital for treatment and was later transferred to another facility for treatment of the injuries he suffered prior to deputies arriving to the Dent County Road 3180 location. A probable cause statement was sent to the Dent County Prosecuting Attorney requesting a warrant. On Monday, March 9^th at 2:00 in the afternoon, a deputy assisted another agency at the Gano Trailer Park on a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Ronald Johnson, was arrested for a probation warrant and shortly after his arrest, admitted that everything in his vehicle was stolen. After revealing where the thefts had taken place and admitting in writing to the stealing and burglarization, the recovered items were inventoried by the deputies. The victims were then contacted and all the items were claimed and released to their owners. The Dent County Sheriff’s office received a call on Friday, March 13^th at 11:15 in the evening at a residence on Highway AC in Boss. The resident reported that upon arriving back home, they went to feed their dogs and noticed one of their dogs missing. Missing was four-day old, white cream chow puppy. As they opened the front door, a piece of wood dropped to the floor and they noticed the door jam on the inside of the door had been busted. Upon further inspection, it was noted that someone had attempted to gain entry into two separate windows on the front side of the house, as there were pry marks on the back door and the outside jam had been split. The puppy is a rare breed and is valued at $1,250. Anyone with any information regarding the missing puppy, which is still under investigation, is asked to please contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Department by calling 729-3241.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving a traffic stop, a follow-up to a previous report, disorderly conduct and an active warrant. On Thursday, March 12^th at 7:45 pm, a vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation that led to the arrest of a 17 year-old Salem man for possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while drugged and the unlawful use of a weapon. He was issued summons to appear in court and released. On Saturday, March 14^th at 10:31 am, a follow up was conducted on a stolen washer and dryer, reported stolen on March 8^th. The investigation led to the arrest of a 38-year old Salem man for stealing. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. At 10:53 that same morning, an officer was dispatched to the 300 block of East Truman in reference to threats being made. The report led to the arrest of a 28 year-old Salem woman for disorderly conduct. She was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Sunday, March 15^th at 2:22 p.m. an officer received information of a subject in the 300 block of East Fifth Street in Salem, which had an active warrant for arrest from Crawford County. The report led to the arrest of a 38-year old Steelville man on the warrant from Crawford County. He was incarcerated in Dent County Sheriff Department pending extradition to Crawford County.

AmerenUE has filed a request with the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) for a decrease in the Purchased Gas Adjustment (PGA) on customers’ natural gas bills to reflect lower wholesale costs from the company’s suppliers.  The new PGA rate represents a 25% reduction from PGA rates currently in effect and a 32% reduction from PGA rates last fall. Subject to PSC review and approval, the decrease would take effect April 1^st for the company’s 127,000 natural gas customers.  Electric rates would not be affected.  UE’s current PGA has been in effect since November 1, 2008. For residential customers in Rolla, Salem and Owensville, the PGA would decrease from approximately $1.21 per Ccf per month to about 95 cents per Ccf per month—a reduction of about 26 cents.  This would result in an average monthly decrease in a customer’s total bill, excluding taxes, during the non-winter season of about $5.54.  A transportation surcharge from the pipeline that delivers gas to this area accounts for the difference in the impact on these three communities.

The Cardinal pocket schedules have arrived and are available around town and at the KSMO Radio Station lobby.

Ales Kotalik notched the lone goal in the shootout, as Edmonton nipped St. Louis, 2-1, at Rexall Place. David Backes lit the lamp for the Blues, who have dropped two of three. Chris Mason performed well in defeat, stopping 33-of-34 shots. Edmonton swept the season series, 4-0. The Blues will be in Vancouver on Thursday night to face the Canucks.

The Cardinals were off yesterday and will face the Baltimore Orioles today.

Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, and the Rockies scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth as Colorado and Kansas City battled to a 9-9 tie in 10 innings of spring training action. Kyle Davies allowed five runs on six hits and three free passes through three frames for the Royals. Miguel Olivo went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, Tommy Murphy registered a solo homer and Mitch Maier knocked in three runs in the tie.

The Kansas City Royals on Tuesday signed righthander Sidney Ponson to a one-year, minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Ponson, 32, was 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA in two starts for the Dutch, allowing four runs and seven hits in nine innings to help the team make a run into the second round of the World Baseball Classic.

The Kansas City Chiefs continued to reshape a disappointing 2-14 team from last season under new general manager Scott Pioli after agreeing to terms with free agent wide receivers Bobby Engram and Terrance Copper along with linebacker Monty Beisel on Tuesday.

St. Louis Rams have signed safety Craig Dahl and wide receiver Chad Lucas.

Funeral services for Hinton” Willie” Chafin, Jr. age 88, will be held this morning at 11:00 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with a military honor service to be held. Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Youth. All arrangements are under the direction of the Dent County Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services for Verla Ellen Floyd of Salem, age 71, will be held Thursday at 6:30 at the Church of Christ in Salem with visitation to follow. Interment will be Saturday in the Westlawn Cemetery in Geering, Nebraska. Memorials may be made to the Pregnancy Center in Salem. All the arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home in Marshfield.

Funeral services for Opal McCracken of Salem are incomplete and are under the direction of the Dent County Memorial Chapel.
