Albert Pujols belted a fourth-inning grand slam en route to a five RBI day as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Detroit Tigers, 9-4, in spring training. Colby Rasmus' 2-for-2 showing included a solo shot, two RBI and three scores for the Cardinals, who saw Chris Carpenter go four innings in the win. He surrendered six hits, a walk and three runs.
Former St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Marty Marion has passed away at the age of 93. The team said Marion, the 1944 National League MVP, died of natural causes on Tuesday night. A native of South Carolina, Marion spent 11 of his 13 major-league seasons with the Cardinals (1940-50). He ended his career with the then-St. Louis Browns from 1952-53 as a player-manager.

Jason Blake scored twice, including the go- ahead goal just 1:50 into the third period, as the Anaheim Ducks took a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues at Honda Center. Nathan Oystrick scored the lone goal for the Blues, who have dropped their past two games. Jaroslav Halak made 22 stops in the loss. St. Louis sits 10 points out of the final playoff spot with 12 to play. The Blues face the L.A. Kings tonight at 9:30 and KSMO will join the game in progress.
Alcides Escobar hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning and drove in a total of three runs, as the Kansas City Royals took down the Cincinnati Reds, 5-3, in Cactus League action. Kila Ka'aihue also hit a two-run home run for the Royals, who had 11 hits. Mike Montgomery went four innings, allowing one run on two hits.
The Missouri Tigers are seeded 11th in the NCAA Tournament West Bracket and will face 6th seeded Cincinnati in the first round tonight at 8:15. You can hear the game on KSMO.
The St. Louis Blues are for sale. Team chairman Dave Checketts said Wednesday night that his group, Sports Capital Partners Worldwide, and Towerbrook Capital Partners have placed the NHL franchise and the Scottrade Center on the market. The two groups own roughly 90 percent of the franchise.
