Anthony Reyes put together another strong start, as the St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals played to a 2-2 deadlock in Grapefruit League action. Reyes allowed just one hit and struck out two over 4 1/3 innings. The right- hander has allowed just one run on two hits, striking out six and walking two, over 10 innings this spring. He is vying to become one of the aces of the St. Louis staff. Scott Rolen homered and Aaron Miles drove in the other run for the Cardinals, who finished the 10-inning affair with seven hits.
Mark Teahen went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run in the third inning as Kansas City topped Colorado, 6-2, in Cactus League action. Alex Gordon collected a pair of hits including a triple and scored a run for the Royals. Starter Zach Greinke picked up the win by scattering four hits over four innings of work.
Brandon Heath posted a game-high 26 points to lead the San Diego State Aztecs to a 74-70 victory over the Missouri State Bears in the opening round of the NIT from the Hammons Student Center. Deven Mitchell scored 16 points to lead the Bears (22-11), while Drew Richards and Blake Ahearn added 15 points apiece. Nathan Bilyeu chipped in only six points, but pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss. San Diego State held Missouri State to a meager 30.3 percent from the floor during the first period, enabling the Aztecs to take a 34-29 lead into the break. San Diego State will face Syracuse in the second round of the NIT on Monday.
The St. Louis Blues road trip continues as they will be in Vancouver tonight to face the Canucks at 9:00. The Blues have lost three of their last four games. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

Memorial services for Janice M. Gahr of Steelville, age 64, will be held Friday at 2:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 tonight. Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery.

Funeral services for Orval L. Hannell of Viburnum, age 68, are incomplete at this time but are under the direction of the Dent County Memorial Chapel.
