The Salem Police Department released their reports involving thefts, a peace disturbance, disorderly conduct, trespassing and a couple of assaults. On Tuesday, March 1^st at 7:00 p.m. an officer was detailed to a residence in the 100 block of East Third in reference to a theft. Investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown took a ceramic Indian head valued $150. On Thursday, March 3^rd at 5:54 p.m. a vehicle was stopped for traffic violations and an investigation regarding a peace disturbance. Investigation of the stop led to the detention of a 16-year old male juvenile for assault and peace disturbance. He was released to a parent and the report will be forwarded to the juvenile officer. On Friday, March 4^th at 7:33 p.m. an officer was detailed to a residence in the 800 block of North Washington in reference to a disturbance. Investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 28-year old Salem male for disorderly conduct. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On Sunday, March 6^th at 3:54 a.m. an officer was detailed to the Walnut Motel in reference to juveniles trespassing in the area of the pool. Investigation of the report led to the detention of three juveniles who were released to their parents and the report will be forwarded to the juvenile office. That evening at 9:40 p.m. an officer was detailed to the 400 block of East Roosevelt in reference to an assault. Investigation of the report revealed a 26-year old Salem male had assaulted a 27-year old Salem female. Further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect who was issued a summons to appear in court for assault and released. On Monday, March 7^th at approximately 3:22 p.m. an officer was detailed to Heartland Metal in reference to a theft. Investigation of the report revealed that a person or persons unknown took scrap copper, copper bars and copper wire valued $13,500 from a building on the premises. At 7:35 p.m. that evening, an officer was detailed to the Walnut Motel in reference to a domestic assault. Investigation of the report revealed a 24-year old Salem male had assaulted a 35-year old Salem female. Further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect for domestic assault 2^nd degree. He was incarcerated pending the application for a warrant. Anyone with any information regarding the theft reports, which are still under investigation, is asked to contact the Salem Police Department by calling 729-4242.

Health care providers in Phelps and surrounding counties are invited to pack a brown bag and attend a free, two-hour educational seminar called “The EHR Road Show”. Learn about the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive programs and how the Missouri Health Information Technology Assistance Center, the new regional extension center for the State of Missouri, can help make the transition to electronic health records possible for even Missouri’s neediest patients. An accident occurred at 1:45 early Saturday morning in Dent County on Route AC in Boss. According to the highway patrol report, a 2002 Oldsmobile driven by 33 year-old Matthew Chandler of Boss traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled back onto the roadway, and overturned. Chandler suffered serious injuries and was airlifted from the Salem Memorial District Hospital to the St. John’s Medical Center in Creve Coeur by Arch helicopter. The Oldsmobile was totaled in the accident and was removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing of Salem.

The 2011 St. Louis Cardinal pocket schedules have arrived. They are available around town at sponsors of Cardinal baseball heard on KSMO and at the KSMO station in the front room during regular business hours.

Pavel Datsyuk scored the game-winner in the third period and Niklas Kronwall added a goal and two assists as the Detroit Red Wings took a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center Saturday night. Matt D'Agostini had a goal and an assist, while David Backes and Adam Cracknell also scored for the Blues, who had a three-game winning streak stopped. Jaroslav Halak allowed all five goals on 27 shots. St. Louis hits the road for four games starting in Anaheim on Wednesday.

Angel Pagan hit a three-run homer and scored twice, as the New York Mets dominated the St. Louis Cardinals, 13-3, in Grapefruit League action Sunday. David Freese drove in two runs and scored a run for the Cardinals, whose starter, Jaime Garcia, got pounded for eight runs -- seven earned -- on nine hits over four-plus frames.

Billy Butler continued his torrid spring with an RBI double and a stolen base, but Kyle Davies scuffled in two innings of work, as the Royals fell to the Brewers, 7-5, on Sunday. Davies gave up five runs on eight hits and struck out four in his two innings.

The first rounds of cuts in Spring Training were Saturday. The Cardinals optioned pitchers David Kopp, Adam Ottavino, Adam Reifer, Francisco Samuel, and P.J. Walters and infielder Pete Kozma to the Memphis (AAA) and they optioned pitcher Maikel Cleto to the Palm Beach (A). The Kansas City Royals optioned pitchers Everett Teaford and Kevin Pucetas to Omaha (AAA) and pitchers John Lamb, Will Smith, Chris Dwyer, and Steven Shell were reassigned to Minor League camp.

The Missouri Tigers have been seeded 11^th in the NCAA Tournament and will face 6^th seeded Cincinnati in the first round on Thursday.

The NFL is officially in a work stoppage after the league announced a lock out of the players following the union's decision Friday to decertify in the wake of failed labor negotiations. The NFL Players' Association opted to break up and file for decertification on Friday afternoon, opening the door for players to file antitrust lawsuits against the league, which they did. High-profile quarterbacks Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees were among the plaintiffs. The league then instituted a lockout of the players, marking the first work stoppage since 1987.

Funeral services for Earnest Schroeder of St. James, age 51, will be held today at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Memorials may be made to the Schroeder Family.

Funeral services for Goldia Barnes of Rolla, age 103, will be held today at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time. Memorials may be made to the New Home Baptist Building Fund.

Funeral services for Hazel P. Edmondson of Anutt, age 91, will be held today at 2:00 at the Anutt United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time. Internment will be in the Anutt Cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
