The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting Thursday morning at the Dent County Courthouse. At the meeting, Dent County Treasurer denita Williams submitted a warrant for the quarterly transfer of $20,750 from the Senior Citizen Fund. This is a budgeted transfer. The money is diverted three ways: $12,500 goes to the Nutrition Site, $1,750 goes to the Agency on Aging and another $6,500 goes to SMTS. In the road report, Commissioner Larson and Commissioner Purcell both stated that crews would be adding materials to a number of soft or muddy roads. Purcell indicated that repair work was being done on a main transfer chain and bearings on a spreader box, and another crew would be using Ultimate Pavement Material to patch potholes on chip and seal roads. Larson stated workers were doing general shop maintenance and also assessing what can be done with the truck bed on truck #116 as it needs a new liner. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported on the SACBA board meeting he attended Monday and said their annual awards banquet was well attended, and their annual Trivia Night will be held on Saturday, March 21st at the Salem City Hall Auditorium. He also reported on the MCEC meeting he attended Tuesday and stated the Naturally Meramec program introductory meetings are still being scheduled in every county, and the MCEC continues to work with county representatives on the Work Ready program for Dent, Crawford, Phelps and Washington counties. Skiles said he and Commissioner Larson attended a meeting with school administrators on Wednesday to get them up to date on the need for a Road and Bridge Sales Tax that is on the April ballot. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported on the Pipeline Regional Emergency Response workshop that was held at the Salem Community Center@the Armory. Governmental agencies, the Department of Conservation, the hospital, and other emergency responders attended the workshop concerning pipeline safety. The Pipeline Association of Missouri, who sponsored the workshop, had two member companies present at the workshop: NuStar, LLC. Dent County has a buried anhydrous ammonia pipeline and natural gas pipeline. Curley said absentee voting continues at the courthouse for the April election, and if anyone has moved since the last election, they need to update their address with the county clerk’s office. Call 729-4144. Curley indicated a sample ballot would be in the Salem News on March 24th and 31st. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Monday morning at 9:00 at the courthouse and the meeting is open to the public
