The Salem Police Department has released their reports. On Thursday, February 27th at 3:13 in the morning, an officer was detailed to the 1100 block of West Center in reference to a disturbance. The investigation led to the arrest of a 54-year old Salem male for disorderly conduct, peace disturbance, failure to obey a lawful order, and resisting arrest. He was issued summonses to appear in court and incarcerated on a 12-hour hold. Later that afternoon at 4:49, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft. That investigation revealed that someone entered a gold 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass that was parked in the 1600 block of Doss Road and took a purse and contents valued at $90. Later that evening at 8:48, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of North Walker in reference to a domestic dispute. The investigation led to the arrest of a 34-year old Salem male for disorderly conduct, trespassing, and damage to private property. He was issued summonses to appear in court and incarcerated on a 12-hour hold. On Friday, February 28th at 2:51 in the morning, a vehicle was stopped for careless driving. That investigation led to the arrest of a 21-year old Salem male for driving while intoxicated. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. Later that evening at 7:38, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The investigation revealed that someone entered a vehicle parked near Highway 19 and Franklin and took $600 cash and other items valued at $140. On Saturday, March 1st at 2:18 in the afternoon, an officer made contact with a 33-year old female of Granite City, Illinois who had active arrest warrants from Madison County and St. Francis County. She was taken into custody near Franklin and Orchard on the warrants and incarcerated pending extradition. An accident happened at 5:45 Monday evening in Phelps County on Highway T about four miles south of Newburg. According to the highway patrol report, 62-year old Kenneth Grayson of Newburg was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson south when he traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Grayson suffered serious injuries and was taken by Air Evac to the University Hospital in Columbia. He was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident. At 6:30 that evening, Grayson was charged with driving while intoxicated, as well as careless and imprudent driving.

Congressman Jason Smith encourages talented high school students in the Eighth Congressional District to enter the Congressional Art Contest. In addition to being recognized locally, the winner of the contest will also be invited to Washington D.C. to attend a recognition ceremony and see their art displayed on Capitol Hill. Congressman Smith hopes to have participation from schools across the district and he encourages anyone who is interested in participating in the contest to contact his Rolla office at 573-364-2455. Artwork can be dropped off at the Rolla Office at 830A South Bishop.  Entrees must be submitted to Smith's office by Friday, April 25th. The University of Missouri Extension will continue the 2014 Dent County Extension Lunch and Learn Series. Celebrate 100 years of the Extension with lunch and informational sessions. Bring your lunch and learn the most up to date information and research about a range of topics. The March Lunch and Learn series features Family Education Specialist Chantae Alfred and money management sessions. The second session will be held Friday, March 14th and it is titled Identity Theft: What is it and How Can You Protect Yourself. The third in the series will be on Friday, March 21st and it will be When Creditors are Predators: Excessive Fees/Aggressive Tactics. The last one in the series will be on Friday, April 4th and it is called Credit: Why is Your Credit Important. Each session will be held at the Salem Community Center @ the Armory, located at 1200 West Rolla Road, and they will be from noon to 1:00 p.m. Attend one session or attend them all. The Salem Tiger sport’s banquet was held Wednesday night and several Tiger football players received honors. Named to the All-SCA 2nd team were running back Zane Kyser, offensive lineman Cordell Tatom, and defensive back Eli Floyd. Players named All-SCA Honorable Mention include defensive lineman Marshall Cramer, linebacker Tyus Leslie, and tight end Logan Pogue. The MO Sports Writers Central MO All Region teams were announced and named 1st team were Kyser and Tatom while Floyd was named to the 2nd team. Kyser, Tatom, and Floyd were also named 1st team All-District while Cramer, Leslie, and defensive lineman Tyler Ragsdale were named 2nd team All-District. Cordell Tatom was also named 2nd team All-State. Congratulations Tigers!!

Carlos Martinez spun four scoreless innings and Kolten Wong belted a two-run homer in the St. Louis Cardinals' 6-4 Grapefruit League win over the New York Mets. Martinez held the Mets to just two hits and a walk while striking out three in a sharp effort for the highly regarded prospect. The Cardinals will play the Atlanta Braves today at 12:05.

Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer in a three-run sixth inning which propelled Kansas City to a 3-1 decision over Oakland in Cactus League action. Mike Moustakas finished 3-for-3 and knocked in the other run in the deciding frame for the Royals. The Royals will play the Cleveland Indians today at 3:05.

The Missouri Tiger basketball team is seeded 8th in the SEC Tournament and will face 9th seeded Texas A&M today. Missouri is 21-10 on the year and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio starting at 11:30 this morning.

The St. Louis Blues will host the Edmonton Oilers tonight at the Scottrade Center. The Blues are 44-14-7 on the year and sit atop the NHL with 95 points. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio starting with the pre-game show at 6:30.

Funeral services for Norman Floyd Light of Salem, age 74, will be held today at 2:00 at Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 12:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Weese Cemetery in Timber. Memorials may be made to the family.

Graveside services for Linda Sue Parker of Salem, age 56, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the Boss Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be in the Boss Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Funeral services for Marie A. Copeland of St. Louis will be held Saturday at 2:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 1:00 until time of service. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and Alzheimer’s Association.
