On Saturday, March 8^th at approximately 3:35 in the afternoon, the Dent County Sheriff's Department received a report of a 48-year old male who had shot himself and was deceased.  The incident occurred at a residence off of Dent County Road 4380.  The male has been identified as 48-year old David Joe Cook of Boss. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Dent County Coroner are assisting in the investigation.  The incident is being handled as a suspicious death and the investigation is continuing.

Dennis Wright pled guilty to federal charges of producing and possessing child pornography, United States Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway and Dent County Sheriff Bob Wofford announced. Between June 2005 and August 2007, Wright used a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct, which he videotaped surreptitiously. In October 2005, Wright is alleged to have used a different minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct, which he also videotaped surreptitiously. The minors were unaware of his conduct.  Additionally, in August 2007, Wright possessed multiple computer images containing child pornography, which he had downloaded to his computer and different computer CDs. The 49-year old Wright of Salem, pled guilty to two felony counts of production of child pornography and four felony counts of possession of child pornography. He appeared before United States District Judge Stephen Limbaugh, in St. Louis. Sentencing has been set for June 3, 2008. Each count of production carries a penalty range of fifteen to thirty years in prison; the possession counts each carry a range of up to ten years prison. In addition to the prison sentences, each count carries supervised release terms of five years to life. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, the Department of Justice launched Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. In addition to the Dent County Sheriff, Hanaway commended the work on the case by the Dent County Prosecuting Attorney, the Regional Computer Crime Education and Enforcement Group, and Assistant US Attorney Carrie Costantin, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Rookie Andrew Cogliano netted the overtime winner for the third straight game, as the Edmonton Oilers blew a three-goal lead but salvaged a 4-3 win over St. Louis at Rexall Place. Brad Boyes and Andy McDonald each had a goal and an assist for the Blues. Manny Legace made 20 stops in a losing effort. St. Louis has dropped the first four tests of its current season-high nine-game road trip.

Adam Kennedy went 2-for-4 with a run batted in, as the St. Louis Cardinals played to a 2-2 tie with the Baltimore Orioles in Grapefruit League action. Yadier Molina also went 2-for-4, with a run scored, for St. Louis. Todd Wellemeyer tossed four innings in the start, while giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits.

Billy Butler homered and drove in four runs as part of a 2-for-3 day at the plate, leading Kansas City over Arizona, 8-7, in Cactus League action. Mike Aviles collected two hits and scored twice for the Royals, who pounded out 12 hits and recovered from a 7-5 deficit in the win. Starter Zack Greinke allowed three hits and three runs over four innings.

Quarterback Trent Green is returning to St. Louis, agreeing to terms with the Rams Monday on a three-year deal. For his career, the 37-year old Green has thrown for 27,950 yards with 162 touchdowns. He will backup starter Marc Bulger.
