At the Salem Basketball Sports Banquet, there were numerous awards handed out to the Girls and Boys basketball Tigers. Coach Travis Wrightsman presented the Best Defensive Award to Solomon McNeal, the Best Outside Shooter Award to C. J. Smith, the Newcomer of the Year Award to Cody Wofford, the Mr. Hustle Award to Alex Heitman, the Most Improved Award went to Jordan Davis, the Sixth-Man Award went to Brad Lewis, the Coach’s Award went to Josh Hafner and the Mike Johnson Mental Toughness Award was presented to Matt Whitaker. The Team Most Valuable Player Award was given to Taylor Sirois. The JV Player of the Year for the Boys went to Zach Pitchford presented by Coach Carey Davison. All the senior boys were given a game jersey in a display frame with their number. For the Lady Tigers, Coach Phillip Karr presented the Most Improved Player Award to Hannah Kettner, the “Gut” Award to Jessica Brand, The “R” School Award and Tendex Award to Allison Jones, the All-Around Award and You’re in Good Hands Award to Natalie Howard; the Defensive Player of the Year Award, Hustle Award and Practice Player of the Year Award all went to Kirsten Stephens. Karr then gave out the Respect Award to Caitlin Smith and honored her with a District Championship Ball signed by all her teammates.
The St. Louis Blues will face the Dallas Stars tonight at 7:00 and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio.
The Missouri Basketball Tigers will face Baylor tonight in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. KSMO will interrupt the Blues game to bring the MU game at about 8:15.
Skip Schumaker knocked in three runs on three hits to lead a 12-hit St. Louis attack as the Cardinals downed the LA Dodgers, 11-1. Braden Looper threw 3 1/3 innings of shutout ball, allowing four hits, to earn the win for St. Louis. Chris Duncan, John Rodriguez, and Edgar V. Gonzalez all homered for the Cardinals.
Andres Blanco had two hits, two RBI and scored a run as Kansas City used a five-run ninth inning to top the Chicago White Sox, 10-5, in spring training action. Justin Huber smacked a double and drove in two runs while scoring twice for the Royals, who outhit Chicago 15-11. Buckner earned the win, despite yielding four runs -- one earned -- on five hits in two innings of work.

Funeral services for Peggy S. Allison of Salem, age 74, will be held Friday at 11:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service for Norma J. Greeno of Rolla, age 46, will be held Friday at 1:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
Funeral services for John Hall Livingston Sr. of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Elk Prairie, age 94, will be held on Saturday at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Elk Prairie Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, MO.
A private memorial service will be held March 17th for Elizabeth H. Ortmann of Salem, age 54. All the arrangements are under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem.
