Ryan Miller turned aside 20-of-21 shots to remain unbeaten in a Blues' uniform as the St. Louis Blues took a 2-1 decision over the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena. Magnus Paajarvi recorded the game-winning score with 8:18 elapsed in the second period, with Ian Cole registering a goal and an assist to help the Blues remain two points ahead of rival Chicago for first place in the Central Division. The Blues will play the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday at 2:00 in the afternoon. KSMO will play this game back on a taped delayed basis at 6:00. The Spring Training game scheduled for yesterday between the St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesotta Twins was cancelled due to rain. The Cardinals will play the Marlins and Mets today in split squad games. The Cards will also play the Nationals on Saturday and Sunday. You can hear those games on KSMO at 11:45.
Jim Edmonds, Bob Forsch, Keith Hernandez, Willie McGee, Mark McGwire, Matt Morris, Ted Simmons and Joe Torre were revealed as the eight players nominated for possible induction into the new St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame. The eight modern ballot nominees, selected by a “Red Ribbon” committee of Cardinals baseball experts through a secret ballot process, will appear on the first-ever Cardinals Hall of Fame ballot online at cardinals.com/HOF. Voting commences today. The two players with the most fan votes after voting concludes on April 22nd will be inducted into the Cardinals Hall of Fame this August. The St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame was established as a way to recognize the exceptional careers and significant achievements of the greatest players in Cardinals history. The Inaugural Class, consisting of 22 Cardinals who are either enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame as Cardinals or whose number has been retired by the club, will automatically be part of the Hall of Fame upon the dedication of the museum and Hall of Fame on Opening Day in St. Louis.
The White Sox scored twice in the top of the ninth, and the Cactus League game between Chicago and Kansas City ended in a 6-6 tie. Alex Gordon was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Royals, who got three shutout innings from starter Jason Vargas. The Royals will play the Giants this afternoon at 2:05.
The Missouri Tiger basketball team will close out their regular season on Saturday when they play at Tennessee. Missouri is 21-9 on the year and 9-8 in the SEC. You can hear the game on KSMO starting with the pre-game show at 2:30.
