Kim English scored 20 points as 7th ranked Missouri used a big second half to take an 81-59 win over Texas Tech in the regular- season finale for both schools on Saturday. Marcus Denmon scored 17 points, Matt Pressey added 14 points, and Ricardo Ratliffe contributed 13 points and 15 rebounds for Missouri. The Tigers made 16 three-pointers on 26 attempts and held a 30-23 advantage on the glass. Missouri finished the regular season with a 27-4 record overall and 14-4 in the Big 12 and will be seeded second in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament.
T.J. Oshie and Kevin Shattenkirk each had a goal and an assist, as the St. Louis Blues took down the San Jose Sharks, 3-1. The Blues went 4-0 against the Sharks this year to sweep the season series for the first time since taking all four meetings during the 1994-95 season. Andy McDonald also lit the lamp for the Blues, who jumped into a tie with idle Detroit for first place in the Central Division. Jaroslav Halak made 18 saves for St. Louis, which has won five of six. The Blues will face the Chicago Black Hawks tomorrow night.
Billy Butler hit a two-run home run in the first inning to lift the Kansas City Royals to a 6-1 win over the Texas Rangers. Lorenzo Cain added two hits and a run scored while Johnny Giavotella scored twice in the win for the Royals. Luis Mendoza (1-0) earned the win for pitching two scoreless innings in the start. The Royals will face Texas again today.
The St. Louis Cardinals start their preseason games today, as they will face the Miami Marlins starting at noon.
