The Dent County Fire Protection responded to two investigative calls this past week. The first call came in on Wednesday, February 28th for a carbon monoxide leak at the home located at 1002 South Hickory owned by Everett Taylor and occupied by Tarah White. Upon arrival, the firefighters could not find any carbon monoxide leak on their detector. Four firefighters responded to the call. On Friday, March 2nd, the Dent County Fire Protection District responded to a call to Oak Hill R-1 School on Highway 19 south in reference to a strong burnt odor with no flames showing. Upon arrival, the firefighters investigated the building but could not find the point of ignition. After a thorough investigation of the building, the ten firefighters who responded to the call returned to the station after being on the scene about two hours and 45 minutes. There was no damage to the school buildings, and school officials later stated that the cause of the problem had been located and would be repaired so no school will be missed. Mutual aid was called out to the Jadwin and Rolla fire districts with Lenox and Montauk on standby, but they were not needed.
