The Hillcrest Lady Hornets got out to a 15 point half time lead and cruised to a 74-57 win over the Salem Lady Tigers Saturday afternoon in District Basketball play in Bolivar. Savannah Hanning scored 20 points to the Lady Tigers and Kaleigh Nash finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. The Lady Tigers finished the season with a 10-15 record.
The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers are scheduled to face the Eldon Mustangs tonight at 6:00 in the first round of District play at Bolivar High School. Jabari Brown led all scorers with 21 points, and the Missouri Tigers cruised to an 85-66 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Southeastern Conference action at Mizzou Arena. Freshman Keanau Post contributed a career-high 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench as the Tigers (20-7, 8-8 SEC) improved to 14-2 at home this season. Jordan Clarkson also scored 14 points to go along with a game-high seven assists, while Earnest Ross added 11 points in the win. Missouri will host Texas A&M on Wednesday.
Kevin Shattenkirk scored the go-ahead goal in a four-goal third period as the St. Louis Blues rallied for a win in Ryan Miller's debut, beating the Phoenix Coyotes 4-2 on Sunday. Patrik Berglund had two goals and Magnus Paajarvi also scored for the Blues, who got their first post-Olympics win (1-2-0) after losing the first two games 1-0. The Blues will host the Tampa Bay Lighting on Tuesday.
Ryan Miller's long tenure with the Buffalo Sabres has come to an abrupt end, as the former Vezina Trophy recipient has been dealt to the St. Louis Blues as part of a blockbuster five-player trade. In addition to Miller, Buffalo's franchise leader in wins, the Sabres sent captain Steve Ott to the Blues. St. Louis parted ways with starting goaltender Jaroslav Halak, forward Chris Stewart and prospect William Carrier. The Sabres also obtained a pair of draft choices in the swap, St. Louis' first-rounder in 2015 and a conditional third-round selection in 2016.
Shane Robinson drove in three runs with a couple of singles and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the New York Mets 7-1 on Sunday in spring training. Michael Wacha pitched 1 2/3 innings in the start for St. Louis, striking out one, walking two and giving up one hit. The Cardinals will play the Tigers at 12:05 today.
Mike Moustakas hit a pair of homers to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 5-3 win over the Chicago Cubs in Cactus League action on Sunday. Wade Davis allowed one hit and struck out three over two scoreless innings. The Royals will play the White Sox at 2:05 this afternoon.

Funeral services for Lee D. Melton of Arnold, age 87, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 at the Rolla Chapel of James and Gahr. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 Tuesday. Interment will be in the Smith Cemetery in Edgar Springs.
