The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting Monday morning. Both commissioners said that that their crews worked hard on Sunday to clear the high priority roads and bus routes so that school could be held Monday. Commissioner Larson said that once the roads are finished, the work crews will remove the blades from the trucks as gravel will need to be hauled. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said that there would be a meeting with MoDOT in Willow Springs on Wednesday. He said he talked with Tom Van Hatten from the Road Rally and they were pleased with the event this year although they had to cancel the last leg. Susan Cunningham from Spatial Data Research came by to tell the commissioners that they are now finished with the rural addressing as the Salem TCRC is now maintaining the addressing system. She did say they were still working on getting maps completed and that they have the district lines for the Salem and Montauk Fire Departments and are waiting on another fire department for their district lines. Cunningham stated they created a total of 7,700 specific address points and about 5,000 of them were rural. This included homes, business, cemeteries, towers, etc. She said that all residents should have been notified of their address, and if there is a resident that has not received notification of their new address, they need to contact the Salem TCRC. Sheriff Rick Stallings provided the commission with his monthly report and said he has started instituting booking fees. The commissioners then talked about another option for the judicial building and that is to move the prosecutor’s office downstairs to the juvenile office and public administrators offices, and move the juvenile office and public administrator’s office to the annex. This would eliminate the ADA problems for the prosecutor and also give the prosecutor additional storage upstairs in the old office. The Sheriff’s Internet Security Lab office and computer that is in the annex could also be moved to the current prosecutor’s office upstairs, and the old files in Judge Price’s building could be taken to the annex for storage. To make sure that the offices were ADA compliant and that this option would provide more square footage, the commissioners measured the spaces in the judicial building. After measuring the offices in question, the Commissioners approved the move of the juvenile office and public administrator’s office to the Annex, and to move the Prosecutor’s office downstairs in those office spaces. The prosecutor’s old office would now host the Sheriff’s Internet Security Lab and be additional storage for the prosecutor. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.

Subaru Rally Team USA driver Ken Block took the win at the Rally in the 100-Acre Wood Road Rally in Salem. Andrew Comrie-Picard and co-driver Robbie Durant finished in second place. Taking fourth place was Bill Bacon and co-driver Peter Watt, and Matt Johnson and co-driver Jeremy Wimpey took sixth-place. Subaru Rally Team USA driver Travis Pastrana started strong but found himself out of the hunt after a rollover on Day 1. He and co-driver Christian Edstrom were unharmed, but were unable to continue. Regional class champions from coast to coast are invited to race head-to-head in the foothills of the Ozarks for the Regional Rally Championship. In Open class, the winning driver was Arkadiusz Gruszka in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, while the Group 2 winner was driver Chris Greenhouse in a Dodge Neon. The weather is the real wildcard at this contest and the 2009 running proved no exception. The warm, early spring temperatures that greeted competitors at the Friday start turned cold and there was blinding snow as teams crossed the finish line. The contest was ultimately cut short by the brutal weather; the final stage was cancelled after the conditions deteriorated so much that it was deemed impassable.

The St. Louis Blues continue their quest to make the playoffs when they battle the Detroit Red Wings tonight at the Scottrade Center. The Blues have three of their last four and six of their last eight games. You can hear the game on KSMO Radio at 7:30.

Wade Davis worked another scoreless spring outing in Tampa Bay's 8-5 win over St. Louis. St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright was tagged for three runs -- two earned -- on five hits with one walk and one strikeout in his spring debut. Rick Ankiel went 2-for-3 with a double and Brian Barton had a triple with a pair of runs scored for the Cardinals. Nick Stavinoha singled twice and drove in two runs in defeat.

John Suomi drove in four runs and the Kansas City Royals pounded the San Francisco Giants, 14-5, in Cactus League play. Chris Lubanski went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored for the Royals. Horacio Ramirez gave up three unearned runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings of work as the starter while Devon Lowery picked up the win with 2/3 of an inning of relief. Kyle Davies went on to toss three innings of one-hit ball.

The St. Louis Rams reportedly bolstered their offensive line Friday by signing free agent center Jason Brown. Brown was one of the top centers available on the market after starting all 16 games in 2008 for the Baltimore Ravens. The 25-year-old Brown just finished his fourth season with the Ravens, appearing in 52 consecutive games, including postseason, over the past three seasons. Brown, a North Carolina product, has 54 regular season starts in his career after being drafted in the fourth round by Baltimore in 2005.

Kansas City Chiefs have acquired quarterback Matt Cassel and linebacker Mike Vrabel from the New England Patriots in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Young of Licking, age 89, will be held today at 2:00 at the Fox Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jerry Dodson officiating. Interment will be in the Shafer Cemetery.

A Memorial Mass for Arthur (Art) Stephens, Jr. of Salem, age 62, will be held Wednesday at 6:30 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salem. All the arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary in Salem.

Funeral services for Etta Mae Perkins of Rolla, age 80, will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Dixon. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Helen Estelle Jonas of Steelville, age 96, will be Thursday at 2:00 at the Britton Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be Thursday from Noon until of service. Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Jonas Museum in Steelville.
