The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Thursday morning.  At the meeting Thursday, Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that grading would be done on various white rock roads in the East Spring Creek District, in the Montauk area and on Dent County Road 536.  Simpson also said that the county would be opening up bids Monday morning at 10:00 for chip and seal projects. Commissioner J.J. Tune reported that brush would be cut on Dent County Roads 435, 435B and in the Sligo area.  Tune also said that rock would be hauled to Dent County Road 259 and a crew would be patching Dent County Road 615.  Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that Sheriff Bob Wofford would start giving a monthly report to the Commission to keep them up to date with what’s happening in the sheriff’s department.  The Commission discussed the possibilities of rural addressing and they all agreed that the county needs to pre-plan before any company is brought in to discuss how rural addressing needs to be done. Commissioner Simpson said that road numbers need to be changed during this process to eliminate the A, B, and C roads; he said that zeros would be added to the end of existing road numbers and the roads that ended in A, B or C would change to 1, 2 or 3. The Commission will discuss this process more, when more information is gathered. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Monday at 9:00 AM and the meeting is open to the public.

Thursday was the opening of trout season at Montauk State Park and they sold 1,828 trout tags for the day and a total of 56 lunkers were caught.
