The Dent County Commissioners held their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Thursday morning. At the meeting District 1 Commissioner Bobby Simpson reported that the District 1 crew is putting up the new road signs in the 500 quadrant. Simpson also said that all the 200 and 400 quadrant signs have been replaced in District 1. District 2 Commissioner J.J. Tune reported that the ice is finally starting to thaw out in the Boss area and crew members would be pushing the ice off the roadways and hauling material to the muddy areas. Tune also said that signs are still being put up in the 200 quadrant and in the Ray Oaks subdivision. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that the total for the February actual election was $16,969.12 and she has sent a letter to the state for 100% reimbursement. At the previous meeting, the Commission received a letter from DNR on the 15 re-monumentation corners.  Commissioners Simpson and Tune approved the land corner restoration forms for all 15 corners. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Monday morning at 9:00 and the meeting is open to the public.

The Dent County University of Missouri Extension will be offering a Private Pesticide Applicator Training Program on March 4th at 6:30 pm at the Extension Office Conference Room located on the second floor of the Judicial Building in Salem. By participating in this training session, individuals will meet the Missouri Department of Agriculture requirements to obtain a license to purchase and apply restricted-use pesticides for private use.  Those individuals who need to renew an expiring restricted-use pesticide license are eligible to attend this session to have those licenses renewed. There is no charge for this course; however, optional instructional materials and guidebooks may be purchased. Please call the Dent County Extension office at 729-3196 by March 3rd to reserve a seat or if you have further questions about this program.

The City of Salem Planning & Zoning Board of Commissioners will conduct a hearing followed by meeting, called by President Sean Curley, on Monday, March 3rd at the City Hall Council Chambers located at 202 North Washington beginning at 6:45 pm. The Board will hear the matter, requested by owners Community Bank NA, of the sub-division of Lot 84, Block “W” of the Douglas Park Addition in the City of Salem. The sub-division would be going east to west making each half 30½ feet by 139.5 feet. Both the hearing and the meeting of the City of Salem Planning & Zoning Board of Commissioners are open to the public.

Senator Frank Barnitz announced that District Legislative Assistant Wilma Rowden of Vienna would continue her listening posts in March at locations throughout the 16th Senate District. Rowden will be in Salem on Monday, March 10th at the Dent County Commission from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Rowden will be at the Phelps County Commission in Rolla on Thursday, March 20th from 9:00 to 11:00 and the at the St. James City Hall on Thursday, March 20 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 41-of-42 shots, as the Phoenix Coyotes held off the St. Louis Blues to win, 2-1, at Scottrade Center. The Coyotes have won nine of the last 10 meetings between the teams. Ryan Johnson tallied the only goal for St. Louis, which has lost five in a row. Manny Legace got the loss after allowing both goals on 28 shots. St. Louis will host San Jose on Saturday starting at 7:30 on KSMO Radio.

Brian Barden drove in a pair of runs, and Anthony Reyes combined with four pitchers on a four-hit shutout as St. Louis blanked the New York Mets, 7-0, in Grapefruit League action. Juan Gonzalez rapped a pair of singles and drove in a run for the Cardinals, while Brian Barden added a two-run single. Reyes (1-0) started on the hill and allowed just two hits in three innings of work. You can hear the Cardinals this weekend on KSMO at 11:55 Saturday and Sunday morning against Florida and Baltimore.

The Missouri Basketball Tigers will face Baylor tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 and you can hear the game on KSMO Radio.

St. Louis Rams have waived wide receiver Isaac Bruce and quarterback Gus Frerotte.

Funeral services for Roy L. Ellerman of Salem, age 83, will be held today at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Salem. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Funeral services for John Burton Condray Sr., of Salem, age 80, will be held this afternoon at 1:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel in Salem. Interment will be in the Asher Cemetery in Phelps County.

Funeral services for Shirley Buckley of Herculaneum, age 48, will be held today at 1:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will also be today from 10:00 until time of service. Interment will be in the Vienna City Cemetery.

Funeral services for Daniel Lyn Soard of Salem, age 21, will be held tonight at 8:00 pm at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Salem. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. There will also be a funeral service at the Stillwell Baptist Church in Clarksville, Arkansas on March 3rd at 2:00. Interment will be in the Stillwell Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Soard Family. 

Funeral services for Wanda Lorene Mathes of Boss, age 84, will be held Saturday at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Viburnum. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Boss Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or any Hospice Organization.

Funeral services for Jeffery Clayton DeLuca of St. James, age 49, will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.

Funeral services for Kyle Luther Watson of Rolla, age 46, will be held Sunday at 2:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Chelsi and Kayla Watson Trust Fund.

Funeral services for Gary "Buck" Turnbough of St. Louis, formerly of Steelville, age 55, will be held on Sunday at 2:00 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Funeral services for Devayne Orland Bender Jr. of Dixon, age 35, will be held at Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Dent County Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Swan Cemetery in Swan, Iowa.

Funeral services for Edgar William Noles of Bunker, age 87, will be held Monday morning at 10:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Crossville Cemetery.

Graveside services for Roy E. Hogan of Salem, age 72, will be held Monday at 2:00 at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. All the arrangements are under the direction of WIlson Morturay in Salem.

Funeral services for Cheryl A. O'Neal of Rolla, age 59, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 at the St. Patrick Church in Rolla. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 at the James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be in the Rolla City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the O'Neal family.
