The Dent County Commissioners met Thursday morning at the Dent County Courthouse for their regular meeting. In the road report, District 1 and District 2 road crews continues to treat areas of concern including curves, hills, shaded areas, roads facing to the north, etc. that have not melted thoroughly. Both Commissioner Purcell and Larson remind citizens to use caution while traveling on the roads as adverse weather continues to be in the forecast. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles stated that all three commissioners attended the City of Salem workshop on the consolidation of police dispatching services that was held Tuesday night at the City Hall Council Chambers. Skiles said that Monday night at the Fort Leonard Wood Nutter Field House, there would be a public meeting on the possible draw down of forces at the Fort that would include both military and civilian personnel. Skiles asked all those who have an interest or know of someone who is employed at the Fort attempt to be there for support of our local area. Skiles wants to remind everyone the 100-Acre Wood Rally will be in Salem this weekend and the opening of trout season will be held Sunday at Montauk State Park near Salem. County Clerk Angie Curley said absentee voting is now going on for the April 7th election and the last day to register for that election would be March 11th. Presiding Commissioner stated that Dent County Prosecuting Attorney Andrew Curley has drawn up Resolution 2015-1 that allows the county to pay County Collector Dennis Medlock $3,000 as compensation for the collection of the City of Salem taxes. The commissioners approved the resolution by a 3-0 vote and to issue Medlock a check. He will also be issued an IRS Form 1099 for the distribution of the funds. Dent County Collector Dennis Medlock presented to the commission a stack of 2010 Personal Property Delinquent accounts from the tax books to be considered to be written off. New Salem R-80 Superintendent John McCulloch came in to discuss with the commissioners the Rural School Act and the negative impact it will have on the Salem R-80 District. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Monday morning at the Dent County Courthouse and the meeting is open to the public.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving loud music, property damage, and theft of fuel. On Saturday, February 21st at 7:13 pm, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 600 block of North Henderson in reference to a loud music complaint. The investigation of the report led to the arrest of a 46-year old Salem male for a peace disturbance and disorderly house. He was issued summonses to appear in court and was released. That same night at 8:33, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of North Henderson in reference to property damage. That investigation revealed that a subject identified as a 48-year old Salem male had been standing outside a residence and broke a bedroom window valued at $150.00. Further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect for damage to private property and stalking. He was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. On Sunday, February 22nd at 3:02 in the early morning, an officer responded to the Mobil located at the intersection of Highway 19 and Highway 32 in reference to a theft of fuel. The investigation of the report revealed the driver of a black Ford truck pumped fuel valued at $49.76 and left without paying. On Monday night, February 23rd at 7:30, an officer transported a 35-year old Salem female to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, in lieu of a mental commitment order. On Wednesday, February 25th at 7:46 in the morning, an officer transported a 25-year old Salem male to the Ozark Medical Center in West Plains, in lieu of a mental commitment order. Congratulations to the Salem Lady Basketball Tigers who clinched at least a share of the SCA Conference title with a 68-49 win on the road against Willow Springs on Thursday. Payton Curley scored 24 points to lead the Lady Tigers to the win followed by Savannah Hanning who netted 22 more. The win moves Salem to 17-6 overall and 6-0 in the SCA. At this point, it is unsure about the last regular season and SCA game with Thayer that was postponed due to weather and when or if it will be made up.

Due to impending weather possibilities, all the Class 4, District 10 Basketball games this Saturday have been moved up 3 hours at the School of the Osage. The Salem Girls Basketball Tigers District Basketball game against the Marshfield Lady Blue Jays has been moved to noon. The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers game Saturday against Eldon has been moved to 1:30. Both games are scheduled to be on KSMO and ksmoradio.com as well as recorded for Fidelity Channel 6.

Alexander Steen scored in the third round of the shootout to lift the St. Louis Blues over the Winnipeg Jets, 2-1, on Thursday. Patrik Berglund scored in regulation for the Blues, who have won six in a row against the Jets. Brian Elliott made 30 saves. The Blues are in second place in the Central Division over Chicago by three points and will have a busy weekend. They will be in Edmonton on Saturday night and at Vancouver Sunday night. Both games will be gin at 8:30 and both games can be heard on KSMO Radio.

The Missouri Tigers will be at Georgia this Saturday for another SEC contest. Missouri is 8-20 on the year and 2-14 in the SEC. The 1st half of the game can be heard on KSMO Saturday before KSMO will break away now to the District Basketball games since they have been moved up three hours.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced the pitcher Adam Wainwright has an abdominal strain and should be fine in a couple of weeks. The pain affected him while running and stretching.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jo Melton of St. Robert, age 36, will be held Saturday at 11:00 at the Fox Funeral Home in Licking. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will be in the Hutchason Cemetery.

Funeral services for Julius G. “JG” Brown, Jr. of Salem, age 83, will be held Saturday at noon at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jean B. Weaver Dialysis Unit.

Funeral services for Richard Davis of St. James, age 84, will be held Saturday at noon at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time with a Masonic Service at 11:00. Memorials are suggested to the St. James Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services for Wilma Nadine Willy of Rolla, age 84, will be held Saturday at 1:00 at the Rolla Church of Christ. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in Rolla. Interment will be in the Ozark Hills Memorial Garden in Rolla. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society
