The Dent County Sheriff’s Office released their reports. On Thursday, February 19th at 10:15 at night, a deputy with the Dent County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop at the Carty Street and Center Street intersection. Upon activating his emergency lights, the vehicle came to a sudden stop. After stopping, two male subjects exited the vehicle and fled on foot traveling east on Center Street. This case is under investigation. Two persons of interest have been identified and warrant applications are pending. On Sunday, February 22nd, deputies received a complaint of theft of property from the 32000 block of Highway 72. The reporting party told deputes that a central air unit and other items were stolen from the outside of his residence. Also on Sunday, February 22nd, Mr. Scott Loso contacted the Dent County Sheriffs' Office. Loso stated his company is building a pole barn in the 2000 Block of County Road 5240 and have had some equipment stolen. Stolen was a Green Rel-Air compressor. All three of these cases are under investigation. Anyone with information pertaining to these cases is asked to contact the Dent County Sheriff’s Office at 729-3241.

Two people from Rolla have been incarcerated for their methamphetamine distribution activities that took place October 2013 to May 2014, in Phelps County. Incarcerated were 53-year old John D. Starke who was sentenced to 86 months in prison, and his co-defendant, 50-year old Chrystal J. Stone, who was sentenced to 24 months in prison. They appeared before United States District Judge Audrey G. Fleissig. This case was investigated by the South Central Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney John Mantovani handled the case for the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The Salem Police Department released their reports involving property damage, a burglar alarm, and a disturbance. On Friday, February 13th 3:28 in the early morning, an officer was detailed to a residence in the 100 block of East Third in reference to property damage. The investigation of the report revealed a person or persons unknown damaged a windshield valued at $200 on a maroon 1999 Chevrolet Blazer. Later that night at 11:20, an officer was dispatched to the Ozark Mountain Vapors store located at 504 East Highway 32 in reference to a burglar alarm. The investigation of the report revealed someone unknown had attempted to gain entry to the building and damaged the back door to the business. The value of the damage to the door is approximately $200. On Saturday, February 14th at 2:15 in the afternoon, an officer was detailed to H and R Block on Fourth Street in reference to a disturbance. That investigation revealed a 23-year old female of Fredericktown was threatening employees. Further investigation led to the arrest of the suspect who was issued a summons to appear in court and was released. On Wednesday, February 18th at 6:49 in the morning, an officer was contacted in reference to a missing 16-year old male juvenile. On the same day at 3:30 in the afternoon the juvenile was located and returned home. At 3:07 that afternoon, an officer served an active arrest warrant from the City of Salem to a 40-year old Sullivan female who was incarcerated at the Dent County Jail. She was unable to post bond and remained incarcerated pending a court appearance. If you have any information on the property damage or burglar alarm reports, which are still under investigation. Phelps County Master Gardeners are hosting a day of education on Saturday March 21st at the Missouri University of Science & Technology’s Havener Center, 1346 N. Bishop Avenue in Rolla, from 9:00am - noon, and 1:00pm - 4:00pm. Professionals in the Horticulture field, Master Gardeners, and Master Naturalist will teach classes on a number of fun and interesting topics. Participants can choose from: Container Gardening, Seed Starting, Backyard Berries, Native Plants, Vertical Gardening, Hoop Houses, Pollinators, Landscape Design, Four Season Gardening, Composting and Vermicomposting, Funky Containers, Climate Change, Pruning Shrubs and Trees, Cut Flowers and more The event is open to everyone. Cost is ten dollars for a set of morning classes and ten dollars for a set of afternoon classes.  The deadline for registration is March 6, 2015.  Seating is limited so please register early. Master Gardeners from around the region attending the seminar will be able to get credit to meet annual education and advanced training certification requirements. This month, the Salem Area Arts Council will be hosting their monthly community acoustic jam in the North Room (around the side) at the Ozark Natural and Cultural Resource Center (ONCRC) in Salem on Saturday, February 28, 2015, starting at 6:30 p.m. Musicians and listeners of all ages and talents and interest are invited. Bring your instrument and play along with the crew, or just come to listen and tap your feet! NO talent needed, just enthusiasm!   Bluegrass, country, folk, gospel, modern ballads, oldies—you name it, you will probably hear it! The Salem Boys Basketball Tigers trailed St. Clair 14-10 just a couple minutes into the second quarter when Salem went on a 17-0 run that lasted into the third quarter and cruised to a 57-40 win over St. Clair. Zayne Kyser led all scorers with 15 points followed by Kobe Mead with 12. Salem is now 13-10 on the year and has won their last four straight.

The Salem Boys and Girls Basketball teams are seeded 4th in District 10 at the School of the Osage. The Girls will face the Marshfield Lady Jays on Saturday at 3:00 and the Boys will take on Eldon Saturday at 4:30. Both games will be on KSMO Radio and online at ksmoradio.com. The cost of admission is $4.00 per person, six years of age and older.

Alex Galchenyuk posted two goals and an assist to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. T.J. Oshie had a goal and an assist and David Backes also scored for the Blues, who have lost three of four. Jake Allen allowed all five goals on 23 shots in the loss. The Blues will be in Winnipeg Thursday night.

The Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainright will be flown to St. Louis this afternoon to have the right-hander examined after abdominal pain kept him from participating fully in Tuesday's workout. General manager John Mozeliak said that Wainwright will be seen by Dr. Michael Brunt of Washington University on Thursday. Wainwright threw his first bullpen session of Spring Training on Friday without issue. The discomfort in his abdomen has been present during other drills and when running. As a result, the training staff had Wainwright back off from the normal pitcher's schedule.

Funeral services for Julius G. “JG” Brown, Jr. of Salem, age 83, will be held Saturday at noon at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jean B. Weaver Dialysis Unit.

Funeral services for Richard Davis of St. James, age 84, will be held Saturday at noon at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time with a Masonic Service at 11:00. Memorials are suggested to the St. James Masonic Lodge.
