The Dent County Commission met for their regular Monday morning meeting at the Dent County Courthouse. Dent County Treasurer Denita Williams said the CART receipts for Dent County received in February totaled $49,348.77. She indicated that compared to the first two months of 2013, the first two months receipts in 2014 are up $2,673.50 over last year. In the road report, District 1 Commissioner Dennis Purcell stated that materials would be added and patch grading was going to be done on Dent County Roads 2470, 2480 and 6470. Materials were going to be added to county road 5530 and patch grading was going to be done on county road 5580. Purcell reported brush was going to be cut on Dent County Road 5610. District 2 Commissioner Gary Larson said patch grading would be done where needed in his district, plus brush was going to be cut on county road 4480. Larson said that a man would be hauling brown rock in from the creek and another man would be screening rock. He also said that county truck #71 had an antifreeze leak and was being repaired, and county truck #110 had an air leak and it was also being repaired. Dent County Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles wanted to salute the Missouri Department of Conservation for the letter they sent to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways by Director Robert Ziehmer. The letter stated that many aspects of the 1984 general management plan had not yet been implemented or enforced by the National Park Service, and the Conservation Department supports the enforcement of the 1984 plan, not the options for the new plan. The Conservation Department also suggests in their letter to organize a working group to develop new management approaches to resolve access and use issues within the Scenic Riverways. The Department of Conservation is also against designation of a wilderness area and any horsepower restrictions within the Scenic Riverways. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley wanted to remind everyone the last day to register to vote for the April election is March 12th. She said that absentee voting begins today for the April election, and persons interested in running for an office on the August primary, the first day to signup is today at the County Clerk’s office. Curley also reported the county accepted the low bid for propane for the courthouse from MFA Oil on Friday of $2.35 a gallon. At the last meeting, Sheriff Rick Stallings applied for a state grant with the Missouri Department of Public Safety for $5,000. The commissioners signed the agreement. The next meeting of the Dent County Commissioners will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at the Dent County Courthouse and it is open to the public.
