The Salem Police Department released their reports involving warrants, violation of a child protection order, a disturbance and an ex-parte violation. On February 13^th at 9:50 in the evening, an office made contact with a 19-year old Knoxville, Tennessee male walking along MaCarthur who had active warrants for his arrest. He was placed under arrest on warrants from Green County and Howell County. He was incarcerated pending extradition. On February 14^th at 2:09 in the afternoon, an officer was detailed to the 1100 block of South Gertrude in reference to a violation of a child protection order. The report led to the arrest of a 35-year old Salem male for violation of the order. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. AT 2:10 the same afternoon, an office made contact with a 22-year old Salem male the Salem Police Department. He had an active warrant for his arrest from Phelps County. He was taken into custody and incarcerated pending extradition. On February 16^th at 10:02 in the evening, an officer was detailed to the 700 block of North Washington in reference to a disturbance. The report led to the arrest of a 23-year old Salem male for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a summons to appear in court and released. On February 20^th at 12:15 in the morning, an officer was contacted at the station in reference to an ex-parte violation. The report revealed that a 25-year old St. Louis male had violated an ex-parte order by telephone harassment. The ex-parte report is still under investigation.

This Friday, centerline rumble strips will be installed on Route 72 from Rolla to Salem. This work is part of a Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) contract with Penhall Company of Rogers, Minnesota.  The work will be performed as a moving operation. Motorists should exercise caution when approaching the operation and expect minimal delays. Striping crews will apply a new stripe within the next few weeks. According to MoDOT, rumble strips have proven very effective in alerting motorists when they are about to leave the travel lane, by drawing their attention to it right away, they are afforded the opportunity to correct before it is too late. While Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Crews have been vigilant in their efforts to clear highways of ice accumulation, MoDOT is still urging caution as roadway surfaces are slick due to refreeze in some areas. Motorists should be watchful when traveling on any paved surface but particularly across bridges and overpasses, where air travels underneath, making the surface even colder. MoDOT crews are continuously treating roads to clear them of ice. When meeting or following a MoDOT truck, please give them plenty of room. An accident happened at 5:40 Sunday morning in Phelps County on Highway 68 about ten miles south of St. James. According to the highway patrol report, a 1995 Jeep Cherokee driven by 51-year old Ladonna M. Stark of Salem, went out of control on the partially snow covered roadway. The Jeep traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Stark suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center by the Phelps County Ambulance. Stark was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident and the Jeep Cherokee was totaled. The Jeep as removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing of Salem.

All Salem and Dent County Schools were cancelled again today due to impassible back roads where the busses travel.

A blood drive will be held today at the Bunker Wood Products from 2:30 to 6:30 on Highway 72 East in Bunker. Proof of identification is needed for first time donors. Eligibility requirements include weighing at least 110 pounds and being in general good health.

The Salem Tigers playoff hopes came to an end Saturday afternoon in Union when the Sullivan Eagles had a strong 4^th quarter and outscored the Tigers in that quarter, 22-14, and beat Salem 70-65. Salem held a three point lead going into the final stanza but could not maintain it. Taylor Sirois scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds before fouling out late in the game. Zach Pitchford added 14 more points before he fouled out and C.J. Smith contributed 11 more to the Salem effort. Salem finished the season with a 19-7 record and shared the SCA Conference title. Congratulations on a fine season!

Keon Lawrence scored 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor, leading the Missouri Tigers to a 60-53 Big 12 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes at Mizzou Arena. Missouri (15-12, 5-7 Big 12) sweeps the season series with Colorado, as Leo Lyons chipped in with seven points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Missouri committed just four turnovers in the game, as the Tigers held a 16-4 advantage in points off turnovers. Missouri will continue their Big 12 play Tuesday night when they host Oklahoma State at 7:30.

Ilya Bryzgalov stopped all 35 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season as the Phoenix Coyotes snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over the St. Louis Blues at Jobing.com Arena. Manny Legace allowed two goals on 20 shots for St. Louis, which finished a winless three-game road trip getting only one point in their overtime loss Friday night in Anaheim, 2-1. The Blues could not convert on six power play opportunities, but their penalty killing continued to hold Phoenix off the board with the man advantage on five opportunities. The Blues will be back at the Scottrade Center Tuesday night when they host the Dallas Stars at 7:30. The Blues are six points out of the final playoff spot in the NHL Western Conference.
